FOA: Fox

I'd honestly just keep the E39 even if you buy something else.
If you don't use it, it doesn't cost anything ;)

You never know, it could well appreciate eventually.
Tax and insurance aren't exactly expensive.

Much as I don't really get you car buying habits at all I do think it's a shame you have this need to have a reasonably new car all the time. It seems like you have a perfect example of you perfect car, would you not want to be 2025's version of that person with an absolutely mint E28?

Not really, no? I will have had this car for 5 years. Thats a long time by anyones standards. Why continue to spend thousands maintaining an old car when you can buy a much newer one?

I'd hardly say it's a need i have 'all the time'. I dont mind hanging onto cars for a long period of time but I dont like buying older cars - therefore my last 2 cars have been just over 4 years old each time. The older a car gets the harder it is to find one that is absolutely immaculate. And as cars are my passion, I don't want anything that isn't immaculate.

Unusual colour combo, but I quite like it.

I wouldn't spec it new, but I'd take it over boring black...

Were you still looking at an E500 as a possibility Fox? Nice facelift ones are poking around £20k now.

I think I want the E92 as it does everything so well but I do love stuff like that. Problem is I wouldnt love it when I found a decent road. Plus Merc efficiency is irritating. I don't want 50mpg but I don't want to needlessly waste fuel. When a BMW Six offers similar performance for less fuel its hard to justify an E500, and the Merc sixes are not particularly frugal either.

The appeal of the E92 is as an all rounder.

Are the gear boxes in this the same as the latest Z4 3.0 turbo? Wasn't impressed with the drivability on the Z4 in real world use.

The DCT box is the same, but hardly any 335i's are DCT. And no pre 09 ones are.

No, he needs to move it on... Preferably to me - I suspect being able to say "Stop, or I'll go outside and add some more fake eBay M Sport badges to your old car" will kill any future arguments between us ;)

Odd colour combo - excellent price, though.

That Merc is pure awesomness for the money.
