I think everyone here has done this or does it from time to time. Most of the ones I've bought were on sale or came in a publisher pack.

cossacks
Deus ex
Doom 3
Max Payne 1 & 2
Serious Sam
Batman Arkham Asylum (also own it on ps3)
Half Life + expansions
Company of Heroes
Classic GTA (owned them on ps1/ps2)
AVP classic

Batman AA
Bioshock
Crysis
Crysis Warhead
DIRT
Deus Ex
Doom3
Doom3 Resurection
Fallout 3
GTA Vice City
GTA IV
Halflife
Opposing Force
Blue Shift

STALKER
Unreal 2 The Awakening
Unreal 2004
Unreal 3

All the games I've bought retail and then rebought on Steam

^Yeah, I didn't find that out until after I re-bought it, doh!

Half-Life + OF/BS
Deus Ex
Fallout 1 & 2 (no, wait, I got them on GOG :))
GTA Classics Collection
X-COM Complete Pack
STALKER: SoC & CS
Max Payne 1 & 2
Star Wars: KOTOR
Morrowind GOTY

Will probably double the list for the coming Holiday sales :D

An interesting thread. I agree with Hawker that the ease of access and compatibility makes purchasing games that you already have on steam very tempting. I tend to hold out for the steam deals when doing this though :)

Company of Heroes + addon packs
Stalker + CoP addon
Unreal III
Star wars empire at war
Splinter cell double agent
Dawn of War + Winter assault

In the Halloween sales I bought Titan Quest and STALKER which I already owned, however they came with the expansions which I didn't own. Plus they were something like £2 and £6 each. :)

I've got duplicates of nearly everything I own on console. But there are still numerous titles in my older PC collection that haven't appeared on Steam yet like Project Eden, Myst IV: Revelation, Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force, Quake IV, Rise of Nations. I could go on.

Beyond Good and Evil.
Bioshock.
Crysis (Maximum edition).
Deus Ex games.
Hitman games.
XCOM series.
Max Payne.

There are probably more, but most were also due to Steam having them running properly on my modern machine (like XCom, BGaE).

Bioshock is the only recent game I've bought to have on Steam, as it was £3.50 a couple of weeks ago, although I steamified Maximum Crysis in the summer sale.

I'd like to get Borderlands for the Steam achievements, but I won't pay more than a fiver to "Steamify" a game I already have.

Can you get Beyond Good and Evil into widescreen mode on the steam version? Because i have a hell of a time on the disc version

Bioshock, Mass Effect and Dead Space to get rid of limited activations.
BF2 to avoid the horrendous patching process.
Psychonauts because it was a quid.
Deus Ex because it was cheap.
FEAR to get the expansions and get rid of the patching issues and CD check
STALKER so I don't have to download patches and because it was cheap.
Oblivion GOTY to get all the DLC
X-Com TFTD to get a version that works on modern PCs

The biggest advantage of the Steam versions is not having to faff about with finding and downloading the right patches.

Batman Arkham PS3 - got the steam version for £9.99 in a sale.
COD 1 - Lost the media for this years ago, was in a sale.
COD 2 - Was in the same COD 1 sale
COD 4 MW - Have the PS3 verison but again was in a sale part of the COD pack
COD 5 WAW - again same COD pack.
Beyond Good and evil - Gamecube had long gone, so got this for a fe quid
Bioshock 1 & 2 - Had Bioshock on the PS3 but they were cheap and wanted to try Bioshock 2
Dirt - had the DVD right in view but it was a few quid so less hassle
Toca Race Driver - got this was the Steam version worked better in Windows 7
Rome Total War - was part of the SEGA megapack Steam were selling.
Resident Evil 5 - haven't played it, already had the PS3 version don't even know why I got this.
Doom 3 - this was so cheap I had to get it, lost the CD key to this one years ago.
Dark Forces - It was again REALLY cheap. I play it every now and then, as even though the graphics are so low res the game itself was superb. I have no idea where my CD went, I think I lost it in when I moved house.
Fallout 3 GOTY - I still haven't played this, and I've got the PS3 version and not played that either.. But it was cheaper then normal steam prices.
Half Life - I for the life of me couldn't find the CD for it. Again I think I lost it in a move. So it came up for sale, and grabbed a copy. Still as good as when it was first released.
Need for Speed Shift - I got this in the EA sale. The graphics are so much better then PS3 and you can mod it etc... Ditched the PS3 version after that.

Hmmm quite a few, but still they were all in sales. Batman Arkham was the one I was most pleased to get in a sale, oh and Metro 2033 but I didn't own it already....

I also got HL2 ep1 and ep2 in the sales, 3 quid each I think... Played them both and they were epic and well worth the cost. Can see why so many want ep3. I do as well..

I'm looking forward to the christmas sales. Hope they have some deals on. Got £100 set aside for it.
