Does anyone know any loft clearance companies in the North West that aren't too expensive?

I moved into my house at the start of this year but didn't think to get the old owners to shift the stuff out of the loft before I moved in. Now I want to put down some proper insulation up there as its getting colder but there are lots of old chairs, boxs, general crap, zombies etc that are taking up the space. I could just hire a skip and do it myself, but I really can't be bothered as it is so dusty and dirty up there and I just don't want to waste a whole day doing it.

I've tried a couple rubbish removal places but they said they wouldn't touch lofts due to H&S and one said their prices started at £695 so I scrapped that idea..

Anyone got any ideas? Ta! :)

They were the first people I tried, they said they wouldn't go up in a loft to clear unless there were floor boards and sufficient lighting.. Mine has no floor boards and a single bulb on a clamp.

I spotted that yesterday on the news and got my hopes up, but unfortunately its not looking likely that I'll get any major finds up there.. :(

May I have the Zombies please? The bogeyman in my garage is getting lonely.

Do you think they would mind being wrapped up and parcelled?

You'll probably find all reputable companies will charge you an arm and leg with it being a rather small, dusty job they'd rather not do!

Your other options are
1) Find an ad posted by Johny Foreigner House Clearance/man with a van in your local paper. Just make sure there is nothing personally identifiable amongst your rubbish as they'll probably dump the stuff in the car park of your local woods.

2) Bite the bullet and persuade some mates to help you out. With one in the loft and a couple of others shuttling from the loft hatch to front door it won't take long. You may even be able to get one of your mates to be the one in the loft :)

Stop being so lazy and just do it yourself. Aww dusty and dirty. You might gets your handies all muckies.

You'd rather not 'waste a day' but would have to work for what, 2 or 3 or maybe 4 days to earn the cash to pay for someone else to do it.

madness.

I think I might end up doing this.. Hire a skip one weekend and call in some favours!

Look back to your documents from when you purchased I am sure that there is a clause about moving all personal stuff out.
You can probably charge them storage for what they have left behind :)

I'll have a look into this. It was my first time buying a house so I didn't think to get the loft cleared. Will definitely remember for next time though..

I did a massive loft clear out a few years ago, took me like 30 odd trips to the local tip to clear it all

I found throwing stuff like clothes out the window easier, then taking by hand downstairs ;)
