HTC Desire HD (Ace)

Went down to CPW and came back with a DHD :D

OK so I had to go down the 24 month contract route but it's only £20 monthly and otherwise is the same as the deal T-Mobile were offering me!

Bloke on retentions said that they weren't expecting any quantity of DHDs in until sometime in December :o

Well i did cancel my order with MPD as they were just taking to long, and then on Wednesday i choose an upgrade route with e2save who upgraded me on my O2 Contract, 600 mins, unlimited txt, £35 per month, £69 for the phone, it arrived yesterday :)

That deal doesn't seem great. Could you have not got a better deal direct? I did 3 weeks ago!

i picked this up, the suction mount is ok. but the vent attachment is completely useless, it just flops!
shame as i was really after a vent mount.

Sorry! My vent attachment is absolutely fine and it was in my dad's car as well so perhaps it depends on the 'stiffness' of the vent?

Finding it awesome :). First Android phone but not my first 4.3" HTC device so probably a different viewpoint than most people.

Does this mean you had an HD2 prior? I've been recommended by a very tinker-friendly chum to get an HD2 instead of this DHD, and just flash/root/whatever-the-terminology-is it and stick the DHD OS on it. If you did have one, did you consider this option?

I've been rocking SonyEricsson "feature phones" for the last 8 years and all this smartphone malarky is very confusing!

Is the Orange Desire HD heavily branded..modified??

I hope the Desire HD that I will be picking up from the CPW next week which I am on Orange isn't branded :(

Looking on the Orange website this morning they still didn't stock the Desire HD but just looking on the Orange website now, they are finally listing the Desire HD but guess what... it's out of stock on there already!

I did indeed have an HD2 and I'd recommend the DHD. I'm not scared of tinkering at all but running Android natively is priceless.

Hrm ok, thanks for that :) More food for thought. I'm not up for renewal until December 22nd anyway, so the landscape'll probably have completely changed again by then :p

I have to agree with him. I also have an HD2, but the Desire HD is a lot better. Running Android natively is pretty awesome to be fair :)

I don't like saying this, as it is Mr Jobs' thing, but, it just works :p

I spent nearly a day with my DHD which was delivered today.

I like

  • The fact it is mega fast out of the box .. perhaps a first for any Android device with no need for rooting or installing custom ROMs. About time.
  • HTC Sense - It works so well! Not sure if I could give up the Sense system up after I have tried it, very useful.
  • Build quality - definitely better than SGS.
  • Size of the screen

Things I am not that keen on

  • The speaker does suck arse.. I can't believe Dolby put their name on this crap excuse of a sound device.
  • The wish that I was looking at an super amoled display - It would also keep down the display power consumption, which has been in the high 80% today with my DHD.

Very happy with it in general.. quick, snappy and feels good to use!

Got to say I agree with you there 2StepSteve, although I've not really played much music as yet!

Am glad that I've not had any issues such as the phone finder not working - it took an hour or so to find the phone first time but it works fine now and man is the "ring phone" option fast!!
