HTC Desire HD (Ace)

i bought the genuine htc pouch, HTC Desire HD ACE Pouch PO S550.

has a nice pull tab so you don't leave the sim cover in when you pull it.

Ive got that too, for the price its a good buy. Id particularly recommend it if you have a Z as its guarantees the phone wont slide open in your pocket.

Is anyone having issues with seriously slow web browsing over your data network ? using the device in a GPRS only area is stupidly slow, compared to my iphone 3gs (same network) it loads the page much much quicker?

I was sat there waiting for 25-30 seconds to load ocuk forums where as the same test on iphone 3gs took around 5 seconds

Why is there no easy global solution to silent the DHD? I did silent, so calls are quiet, then suddenly apps aren't silent!

Why can't there be one button that mutes the lot? Not very easy for work...

Sounds like 3G vs. HSDPA to me...you definitely had a 'G' on your iPhone at the time and not an 'H'?

Hi stoke1863, I saw this over at xda earlier if that helps you..

A fix has been found to stop the /Init process lagging the phone.
On your phone go to..
Menu/settings/applications/development/now turn on Usb debugging..
This seems to keep the / init process at 0% CPU usage, it also works when the /INIT problem starts, turning USB debugging on will make the /INIT process drop back to 0%, very nice to see.
Ive contacted the Dev to find out if he can tell us why this method has fixed the problem.
Still need an update from Htc but at least we can use our phones again..
There doesn't seem to be any negative effects from turning this option on, the only thing to note is turning it off to connect to your pc could bring the /init process back and lag your phone. You can download Android Manager from the market for free which will allow you to transfer data from your pc using Wi-Fi, using this app you can keep the USB Debugging on.
EDIT 2 - It looks like you can connect to the pc via USB cable with the debugging turned on without problems, the only difference is that it will try and install additional drivers...because of the debugging mode..
Im using windows 7 and the ABD driver wont install...this however does not effect transferring via the USB cable...
We should also watch the battery as this may actually increase battery life...
Thank you to everyone in this thread for there efforts...amazing response.

My DHD should be arriving sometime this week :)

I'm using an app called Quick Profiles. It allows you to customing everything about the phone. I have profiles for Work, General, Silent and Bed Time lol..

Finding it awesome :). First Android phone but not my first 4.3" HTC device so probably a different viewpoint than most people.

Phone is fast, customisation is easy and very flexible, market is huge, internet is astonishingly fast, GPS is VERY quick to lock on (sub 5 seconds for me, even in the sticks), and to that end Google Navigation is absolutely spot on. The battery's also not as bad as initial fears - I easily make 24h+ now.

For the first time I think I'd be happy to carry this phone on after my contract ends.

I'm still getting to grips with it, only had it over the weekend, so I can't really judge the battery properly until I've spent a few days at work with it to see how it copes with my usual usage.
Initial impressions from the use I have had are very positive, it's a cracking piece of kit, I agree that it seems likely to hold it's own for the full length of my contract, possibly beyond. After multi-tasking with it, I fail to see what dual core will bring to the party, except e-peen waving.
My opinion is that HTC have outdone themselves here, I don’t think they need to introduce a more powerful phone onto the market for at least the next year, I'd suggest in the meantime they maybe launch some incremental models, that improve efficiency and the battery life of the phone.
If they could get a version of this phone that ran for a good 48hrs without charge, it'd be absolutely perfect.

How are some of the earlier adopters finding it after spending some time with the handset?

Liking it?

First ever smartphone and I'm finding it absolutely fantastic. You could say that's no great surprise given it's my first, but it's just so good in every department but for battery life.

It's slick and smooth, very quick and reliable.

I love the Android / Sense system and combined with the phone's hardware, it makes for a great experience. I've been using it heavily and had to charge my phone in the late afternoon on Saturday and Sunday, but that's cause I'm fiddling so much with it at the moment and have set the screen to full brightness.

If / when an uprated battery comes out, I'll be in the market for it for sure, as it's the only bad thing about this phone so far in my view. But then everyone knows it's an issue so that's nothing new.

If there's an AMOLED version of the DHD that's a few mm thinner and smaller length and breadth-wise, with a better battery but the same in every other way, that alone would be enough to make me upgrade early. I know that in a few months there'll be something better out, but what can you do about it!

I'm having a problem with HTC Sense, my account is up and running but the phone won't connect, when I log on through the phone to the website it just locks on the loading screen????

Any ideas?
