Do you recognise these student rioters?

Man arrested for allegedly throwing a fire extinguisher at police during student riots

A student from a wealthy family was arrested yesterday after a fire extinguisher was hurled from the roof of Tory headquarters during Wednesday’s riots.
Last night, police said they had arrested a 23-year-old student from Cambridgeshire, who is believed to be studying at Anglia Ruskin University.
He was being held in custody in a Cambridge police station on suspicion of violent disorder, but was released on bail last night.

The student’s parents live in a large country house worth up to £1million, set in expansive grounds on a secluded country lane in Berkshire. His father Miles is a former director of bridge building firm Mabey and Johnson. Yesterday, a woman believed to be the student’s mother said: ‘It’s not your lucky day, I’m not going to talk to you.’

His parents must be so proud! I hope he gets a harsh punishment and get kicked out of university, could have killed someone the idiot.

Is it really necessary to "name and shame" his father and his business? The offender is 23 FFS so should have responsibility for his own actions?

Its all part of the denunciation that happens to anyone that calls to question and stands up to government policy. A lot of these students will now be black listed for life to keep them from employment within the public sector, business that depends on large public sector contracts or are considered sensitive to the nation's interest. Politics will be the only thing that stops them from becoming working class.

Don't riot then?

Attempted decapitation with a flying fire extinguisher is going a bit further than questioning government policy, though....

But like I said - I don't see why the father and his business are being dragged through the mud by the media, simply because his adult son has done something beyond stupid.

this one looks familiar,

The current system is uaffordable.

What would you propose instead James ? It's either less people go or they pay more unless I am missing something.

Well, reclaiming the estimated £120 billion per year lost in Tax avoidance would be a good start.

And no, I'm not saying bash the rich or corporate business....just actually get them to pay the taxes that they are supposed to anyway.....like we all have to.

The problem is, no-one cares if you have a peaceful demonstration, especially not the people you are protesting to.

There are peaceful demonstrations going on every weekend in London, but you don't get to hear about them.

We would all still be paying the extremely unfair Poll Tax if people hadn't rioted on the streets - and yes, lots of things got smashed and people hurt - at times you have to fight for your rights and fighting isn't peaceful.

God I hate the Telegraph.
I like what they're doing, taking a leaf out of the French's book & sticking it to the man! :D

Viva la revolution!

Poll tax unfair ?

It seems more fair than a council tax levy where the burden of falls on homeowners.

Anarchy, destruction of property and injuring others in the name of taxation that you don't want has no place in a civilised society.

I hope the chap who threw the fire extinguisher gets the book thrown at him and also gets thrown out of Uni. Complete and utter idiot.

Obviously Martin Luther King and Gandhi never achieved anything with peaceful demonstrations.
San Suu Kyi the recently released pro democracy campaigner in Burma obviously didn't get the attention of the world's media or win a Nobel peace prize.

Yeah you're right, peaceful demonstrations have never achieved anything.....

They already do. Tax avoidance is using the the tax laws within that country to minimise their liabilities, therefore there is no lost taxes as what they are doing is following the letter of the law. That the law is poorly written is another thing all together.
