ok so been buying parts for my first bulid, and this week i will be buying the cpu and motherboard...gonna go for the amd 955 be...if cant get that then the AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 965 Black Edition "125W Edition

the motherboard i was looking at is the GIGABYTE GA-890FXA-UD5.
i have a corsair hx650 modular psu and the case is a coolermaster 690 2 advanced and a freezer 7 pro rev 2 cpu cooler

was just wondering if that motherboard will work well with everything else and is a good choice ?

i will probably be getting a MSI GeForce GTX 460 HAWK "Super-OC" 1024MB gpu

so is it looking like a good set up so far for gaming as thats what i really want it for ?

Yeah it sounds fine. Make sure the Freezer 7 pro has AM2/AM2+/AM3 mounts.
How much RAM do you plan to add?
Think they only sell the 95w version of the 955 anyway, but it's the better chip ;)

yeah the freezer has those mounts...as for ram was thinking about 6gb for now
so the 955 is a better chip than the 965 ?

6GB? No. Can't be done unless you're using an Socket 1366 i7 with an x58 chipset.
AMD and anything except i7 can only run in dual channel. 4GB of ram will be more than adequate.

955 better? No, its the same. Its just cheaper for effectively the same thing. The price difference is due to the 965 being clocked higher at stock.
