Im thinking of upgrading my antec 900.1 in a few weeks to one of the above cases, I was just wondering how these cases do in terms of aircooling ability in the meantime before I get together a water cooling kit. I will be using a HR-02 and 1600rpm fan with an I7-950.

also is it possible to get an 800D with no side window like the 700D?

and is the price difference warranted with the 800D ?

many thanks
stephen

i have a 700d on air and cpu temps never go over 50 degrees in games idle around 25-30 with an i5 overclocked to 3.8 and an akasa venom cpu cooler, it is possible to fit a 700d side panel to an 800d as they have the same fittings, im currently looking for a 800d side panel, not sure what you mean by "is the price diffrence warranted with the 800d ?" get back to me on that one :) when you watercool you will be amazed at how easy it is to install every thing ;)

good luck with the upgrade

Yes you can get it direct from Corsair for $19.99 https://shop.corsair.com/store/item_view.aspx?id=1171683

Or you could swap the 800d window panel with someone who has a non-window panel.

Though, unless you REALLY want the hot-swappable drive bays. Wouldn’t you be better getting the 700d? As all what is different between the two is side window and hot-swappable drive bays, seeing as you don’t want the window that just leaves the hot-swappable bays to account for the extra cost.

what i meant was are the window and hot swap bays worth the price difference . and is the cooling of the drives any different /worth the difference

i find my drive cooling fine, how swap bays depend on how much you will use them ie if you have lots of drives to test/ get data from, window is personal opinion if you like it or not (if you don't then you can always swap it or buy a 700d panel)

just a thought , how are the hot swap bays wired , is it possible to hook one bay up as sata 3 because i use a crucial real ssd as OS

The hot swap bays are a sod when you are not using sata 2. I had to remove the built in electronics that connect to the ssd at the back of the bay. I then entered the bay at the side, after widening one of the pre cut openings, to get the power and sata 3 cable in. Lastly I had to mount the SSD 'backwards' because there was not enough room for the wires otherwise.

I couldn't fit a normal hard drive in there and had to mount it in a cd bay instead. Other than that the case is an absolute dream to work with.
