4GB DDR2 800MHZ RAM,

WINDOWS 7 HOME EDITION,
500GB SATA 7200RPM,
580W PSU.

...

NEW rig:
AMD PHENOM 2 X4 955 3.2GHZ (OC @ 3.6GHZ - 6MB L3 CACHE),
4GB DDR3 1333MHZ RAM (OC @ 1500MHZ),
ATI RADEON 5870 GPU,
ASUS M4A87TD MOTHERBOARD,
WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE,
500GB SATA 7200RPM HDD,
700W ICUTE MODULAR PSU.

Here's a pic of my new rig ^_^ (it lights up orange too!) http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos...312810510104_886580103_15528498_2351644_n.jpg

Quite an upgrade eh? i will eventually be upgrading to 8gb of ram and getting another 5870 for crossfire, and also an SSD drive.

I do have a question though, is it worth upgrading the memory to 2000mhz ddr3? and upgrading to a 6 core phenom? (keep in mind this is primarily for gaming!)

Also is it worth upgrading my psu?

Thanks guys.

Very nice set-up :)

There really isnt much real world difference between the speeds of memory - although it may limit your OC slightly.

If main use is gaming don't upgrade to X6 - its actually slower in games as 2-3 of the cores are always sat doing nothing.

Not heard of the PSU brand before - which worries me. Especially if you do decide to add crossfire!

Thanks for the advice, i do eventually plan to add another 5870 in which case ill buy a corsair 1200W psu.

ill stick with my 955, upgrade to 8gb ddr3 1333mhz and maybe add an ssd :P

Looks good :)

As mentioned above though, get a decent PSU in there. Would be horrible for it to go pop and take some of those lovely components with it

You have a point, its a weird brand but its a very good PSU, never given me any issues.

i will invest in a new PSU soon though, i also want an SSD but do not one under 500GB but dont wanna pay over £600 for one! so im fuc*ed lol

Nice build, good choice of processor

but

I would buy reputable brand of psu, 5870 well known for being a power hog do not want that psu killing any of your components
