Hey guys, ive got a asus gtx 460 1gb graphics card, and i know its actually an nvidia product, so i was wondering if it would be better to use the nvidia drivers instead of the asus ones. Any thoughts?

Yes use the latest nVidia drivers. Currently either 258.96 (most stable release) or the latest WHQL which have some feature improvements but I find them a little less stable than the 258.96 ones - tho nothing major.

oh right, would there be a way of finding out if the new one is a nice stable one, im about to install it first, see how it is.

should be getting a new monitor soon, im borrowing my sisters one, its not bad but i cant visually get what i should be lol.

It's all trial and error unfortunately. No one driver will work perfectly for everyone (hence why you often see thread after thread asking about drivers issues across the web).

Personally I have found the 260.63 to be nice and stable (available from Guru3d downloads section) but you may find 260.99 stable.

i tried the 260.63 now, and im actually able to play that black ops game now, so thats pretty good. Thanks guys for the help.

I don't know about anyone else but the 260.99s seem to be incapable of making rational fan speed adjustments based on core/pcb temp on my card 8(

I'm running 260.99's on my 460gtx and they seem fine to me. That said I've not owned a modern graphics card for ages. I think the fan speed goes to about 40% on load, but my only way of checking that is to load afterburner which I think in turn does its own fan management.

Any way to check just what the drivers are up to?

Set up a manual fan profile in afterburner if the drivers are playing up.

Pulseammo - You are currently running the latest WHQL drivers available from Nvidia. I wouldn't worry about changing over to any of the newer beta drivers unless you are having issues.
