Chaps/chappettes,

With experience, who provides the best* ECU remap for a 2008 1.8 TFSI (160PS). Engine on 35K miles.

*mix of power increase
least impact to mpg
least extra stress on turbo or engine

And whats the deal with Dealership ECU updates, is there an easy way to retain the map? Or do you have to revisit the mapper?

Thanks :)

You will be best off getting on an owners club forum and finding out the most reputable place near you

For example if I had one i'd take it straight to Awesome GTI as its about half an hour from me

This was my first thought, my fear was the lack of impartial views on a owners forum.

There seems to be a huge contrast in prices (Some i've seen for £225 for a rolling road custom map and they have a very long list of customers with some special metal, then there's Revo which is £450 for a standard off-shelf map?).

revos are the best ones in my opinion , theyre painstakingly tested have good guaruntee's and very strict on their dealers and give a good mix of performance and economy

OK i'll investigate the revo a bit more

I can see from Revo SPS that helps you regulate the map, but do they have a product which allows you to 'remap' or 'unmap' your ECU when you get services?

Edit: Looks like SPS1 allows you to do this!

A3 - power gains look nice. It's not cheap though, £599 for the map and £199 for the SPS1

My old 1.9 Fabia VRS went to 177bhp after it's map. I got mine done through the dealer and cost £250.

Will have to look out for a group-by or another show, July would be a long wait! :)

Good to hear that the prices are that flexible though, was that from Revo themselves?

yes it was when i got mine , best trying on some audi forums or something sometimes they have promotions or offers going with revo at times. i know cupranet had one a while back with someone which has finished now. or revo do offers at their own accord if you take it to them directly

Revo tends to be a safe bet but the power delivery isn't to every ones taste.

I like my Revo map for both day to day and spirited driving even though it is of the "dollop of power low down tailing off at high revs" type.

R-Tech do great custom maps and cheaper than Revo too (From memory) although as far as i know, no switch unit

the rtech plots ive seen are without a doubt "better" deliveries compared to REVO, imo.

revo's big dollop of torque will feel nippy and lead to silly wheelspin due to the sudden arrival of a stack of torque... but that doesnt equate to a fast car but makes some people go WOW
