yep its that time of year

last year i paid £400 this year they want £700

I have been driving for over 4 years, 30 yrs old BUT one crucial mistake I always made was to put my mother down as main driver followed by me...

With no accidents over the year or any claims and with my mums 9 yrs no claim bonus I cannot digest how they want an extra £300

If I go at it alone they want over 2k - thats to be insured on a 2000 honda

Does anyone have any recommendations to save me paying me through roof?

Thanks

That's no mistake, it's illegal fronting and you gain no ncd so you're paying the price now

S2000s are notoriously expensive to insure - relying on mum to afford one at 30 is a biro sad really

LOL

Did he really mean an S2000 though or just a 2000 reg Honda?

£2000 for anything short of a supercar at 30 is too expensive and you can probably find it cheaper.

He's got zero no claims as he's been relying on mummy until now. They are stupidly expensive for what they are to insure - even for me with a good amount of no claims, in a nice area I was quoted about £800.

Expensive or not, £2000 is too much. The OP will be able to find it cheaper, almost certainly. Just creating a random quote on Bell.co.uk for a 30 year old in Hendon on an S2000 (http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2156275.htm), I get £1394 for 12 months with a £500 excess. If I add 4 years of NCB it goes down to £1031.30. Ergo, he's not paying the price unless he wants to.

Possibly a bit, but it's still going to be stupidly expensive to do it legally.

I'd agree that it's too much in the sense of being not worthwhile - I think he needs to accept he's been a bit stupid until now and downgrade for a few years

See my post edit. It's significantly cheaper at £1400 rather than £2000, and it's only a few hundred quid more than if he had 4 years NCB. Bear in mind, this is a quote I've found after 2 minutes of searching.
