Children And How They Are Brought Up.

Sad state of the country right now is that people like this can get by just fine, granted they don't have the most cushy lives but hell they don't even work...

Just ain't right, I like the new scheme they're bringing in where people on benefits have to do unpaid work if they keep declining jobs.

Scum breeds scum.

A not too elegant but perfect description.

On a few occasions the cycle gets broken at one end or the other, but generally speaking it holds true.

It's not just this country, its simply human nature at work unfortunately.

This is one of the reasons I am becoming a primary school teacher. I won't be able to influence the majority of the children I teach but a small amount of them should come away with the knowledge of how to be a decent person. Parents are the downfall of children as we aren't born stupid, the environment that they are brought up in has such a big effect.

It can go either way mind you, some children rebel against bad role models and better themselves and some are just doomed. My future children will hopefully be good people =)

I've always thought that contempt for the police of this sort is dangerous, because it represents contempt for not just the cops, but also law and order, justice, and the functioning of the state as a whole.

It also ironically places many people in the position where they would give up their freedom in order for said authority to tighten it's iron grip, rather than encouraging a mentality where Police/Authority/Law is there to serve the populace, not forcibly control it.

I'll agree with you, so long as you're not accusing me of that based on what I've said.

I was sat in the job centre a few weeks ago, a "couple" sitting next to me, both must have been around 20, little girl sitting in a pram between them, the mother, with about 10 people sat around her was telling her 3-4 year old daughter to say "**** off", for 5 minutes she was just laughing and saying "go on say **** off, go on say it"

I didn't expect to be so horrified by it. I just can't understand how they could possibly think that was either right or funny.

This begs the question, we as the public observing that incident have no legal reason or right to do anything about it. But do we have a moral obligation to stop that women from ****ing up her daughter's life? Okay, so we won't be able to change who she is, but could we get her to shut up?

I would say that we do have a 'community' obligation, and also a 'personal' obligation. That said, you would need to have a 'right' upbringing model which I don't think necessarily exists - there are obviously 'wrong' things, but there isn't a set way to raise a child - as they all respond differently to different methods.

And then there's the whole interfering with a person's role in bringing up a child. And then, children often rebel despite the 'right' upbringing - and so it would appear that they are being brought up wrong. In which case, do we intervene?

As it is now, I think the focus should be on bringing the general community to a state where that kind of upbringing is not acceptable. Prevention rather than cure, really. It is less intrusive, and probably easier (not easy, mind) to achieve, than active intervention.

I guess the issue is most people never have any direct positive experience with the police, do not know what they are doing aside from moaning about traffic, noise, whatever...

The only experience I have with the cops is them stopping me and wasting 15 minutes of my time, making me use a breathalyser, spend 5 minutes going over all my documents then letting me go after realizing they can't do me for anything.

And of course the highway robbers I see hiding in the bushes every couple of days trying to catch some poor naive or blind sod returning from work 5kph faster than allowed.

I have little faith the police will do anything useful if I for example report someone scratched my car or if they nick my bike or whatever.

I do appreciate they do a lot of good things I don't see and I certainly realize it'd be **** without them, but, around here, they could show people more they are actually fighting to stop crime rather than small infractions, it'd help a lot.

Another example is at work, I had a shift on the platform where all the trucks unload etc, one motor cop arrived and sat at the entrance, checking over EVERY single truck/lorry that arrived for 15-20 minutes ( as in 15 mins per truck), causing massive delays and overwork... Needless to say half the truck drivers weren't pleased, they referred to him as '' DIRTY SS-er'' or ''****ing nazi'' once they were past... I don't blame them if some cop goes to that kind of trouble to meet his (fines) quotum.

Even though I, personally, completely despise the police (I have my reasons), I wouldn't pollute my kid's head with my hate.

arr upbringings, i could rant about this for hours.
Children generally have no respect these days and they expect everything on a plate due to poor upbringing.
Recently i nearly killed a child and then nearly did again after because i was darn angry at her.
When i was little we rode our bikes on pavements or in summer on roads; this 7/8 eight year old girl road out across the road infront of me few weeks ago at night whilst i was, luckily, on my scooter so i could swerve through a tiny gap so i could avoid her. If i was in a car she would be dead no doubt.
When did kids become so stupid and disrespectful to there surrounding and other people.

Having kids is a priviledge, not a right. Some people just spawn when they really aren't the type of people who should be trusted with a hamster, let alone children.
