What are the pros and cons of getting it from somewhere like mobiles.co.uk as supposed to straight from T-Mobile? Obviously it's a lot cheaper but there must be drawbacks I guess?

Yep, you'll only get 1GB of data instead of 3GB and you download speeds will be about 350kb/s instead of about 1300kb/s

Just ring them up and tell them and they should change it as others have said they have done.

This isn't guaranteed to work but if you keep trying you'll get through to someone who can sort it out.

Anyone in here who has a phone with an LED screen next to the Desire HD, does it look as bad as it seems to in this picture -

It just looks washed out but I'd imagine that is because its next to a SAMOLED and they are obviously better.

I'd imagine the worse colours are worth it for the gain of the larger screen for certain people.

When you have them next to eachother like i did with my nexus one i wont lie its a huge letdown. However it is NOWHERE near as bad that photo imo.

After an hour using it away from the AMOLED screen you wont even care.

PLUS i can finaly use my phone outside now!!!

Yeah, it doesn't bother me at all really as how often do you have two phones like that side by side in reality? Never.

That picture just looked poor in fairness but videos and other things make it look perfectly fine.

Absolutely right.

SWMBO has an SGS and the screen is very nice to look at. However, when I'm using my DHD I'm certainly not thinking "I wish I had a better screen". It's perfectly usable and very good quality.

Switched it on this morning and was notified of an OTA SW update.

Has anyone else installed this? I have and now have the impression that the display looks better, slightly denser colours. Am I imagining it?

There's no updates available for me, and as the scheduled update check doesn't check every day I'm assuming your notification was for the update that rolled out last week. If so then yes, you have a vivid imagination

It is quite alarming how quickly the battery drains, that display is a hog.

I have nothing auto syncing, display brightness set to 40%, wifi off, HSPDA on and USB debugging on.

Hoping to see an improvement in battery life as I am now on my 4th charge cycle.. if not I may have to send if back while I am still in my cooling off period.

Well I've had the DHD for a week now and this is the first update I've seen. I may be imagining about the screen but one thing I'm certainly not imagining is that my ring volume is definitely louder after the update, it rang a few minutes ago and made me jump it was that loud.

Would T-Mobile budge if I called them to say I ordered my phone over a month ago and would like a discount on it's price (not the monthly price) since I still do not have a phone from them?

I don't know, I guess it depends on lots of things - if it's a new contract with them rather than an upgrade they might just laugh at you but then again you could get lucky?

I wasn't able to get a bigger discount when I did mine through CPW - they stuck with £130 I think it was off the cost of the phone but they did knock the monthly cost down to £20 from £25 which makes a big difference on a 24m contract!

A heads up that all the features of HTC Sense seem like they have been fixed including locate my phone which previously wasn't working for me.

Works great! I really like HTC Sense.

i havent been able to use 'htc likes' for the past few days.
i get unable to connect to the HTC Sense server.
is this a problem on my end?

Worth a try.

Mine was an upgrade and I ended up getting the DHD free and a contract of £10 a month with unlimited texts, 300 mins and 3Gb data, over 24 months.

Just recieved mine from Voda this morning and the only thing I don't really like about it is the screen. It is a little underwhelming espcially seeing as I play with Desires/SGS' all the time! Even put next to my Magic it doesn't seem as good! :eek:

No doubt I will get over this as every other aspect of the phone is superb, just can't help thinking if it had a different panel of glass it really would be top of the pile
