Agree with just send in a cv. If its good, (with some portfolio work) they may send it to other companies and actively work to find you a job. Remember, its about who you know, so get yourself known.

Like Neo said it's best to just bypass recruitment sites and check the games companies themselves, shows initiative(not much, granted, but still).

Also don't be afraid to apply abroad too, companies like these often help you move if you're what they need.
