Hi all im building a new pc for a friend its mainly for gaming and photoshop.Ive had a little advice from a friend who said this build would be suitable just wanted some opinions on if i should go ahead with this.I should be able to look about to get the parts a little bit cheaper the only other thing i'd need is a case and windows 7

Oh and the budget was £600 think its going to be a little over with Case & OS

Solid build all around.

A few things. You might want to look into the 470 range of GPUs. The step up in price is not significant, but you can squeeze quite a lot more power out of it. Otherwise the Gigabyte card is fine.

The other thing is your hard drive. I do not really see any really good reasons to opt for the Caviar Blues when Samsung SpinPoint F3s are available.

All in all though, a solid build indeed. Although not sure whether using non-OcUK sites to list it is the best of ideas. (Unless OcUK have some crazy new web design I am now aware of.)

+1 to the change to an F3. Just my own personal choice.
I also agree with Porcelina, Put it into OCUK and then put it up like that or just copy text

Looks like a pretty solid build, just a couple tips.

1. Try it in OcUK, it's probably cheaper.
2. As others have said, the F3 1TB is faster and has more space.
3. How huge are your photoshop files? If huge, go for 8GB of RAM.
4. I'm gonna have to disagree with Porcelina on the 470. The 470 is like a 460, but with massively increased power consumption, heat and noise. You could self-overclock a 460 to 470 power levels, and it would be less hot and power-hungry. If you're looking for a GPU upgrade, get the 6870.

Looks good. Samsung F3 1TB seems to be a no brainer when it comes to hard drives so I'd swap to that as mentioned. Also you could get away with a lower wattage power supply if you wanted to save some cash, or keep it and leave yourself with plenty of overhead for upgrades in the future

Thanks for the advice. The reason i put a 500gb hdd is that my friend is going to be storing a lot on his portable hdd & i was trying to keep the costs down i'll maybe change it to a Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB. Anything else i could cut costs on??

Here's the list by OC im having trouble finding the ram Kington 4gb its going to be more expensive

Build looks good still. Nice to see that F3 pop up too.

And yeah, I kind of agree about the 460 vs 470 point Hybrid. However I do think it comes down to just how GFX intensive you want it to be. However, the newest build still has that SLI enabled motherboard. If you want to go SLI, either now or in the future, then I would imagine that the 460 is definitely your best bet. 470 SLI would push your wattage needs as well as the noise and heat generation way past what a 460 SLI build would generate.

GIGABYTE website say it doesnt do symmetrical crossfire/sli
*1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16 (PCIEX16) (The PCIEX16 slot conforms to PCI Express 2.0 standard.)
*1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x4 (PCIEX4)
and for the psu the i would go for 400w-500w since the mobo cant do sli on 8x/8x. if you want to do sli in the future i would go for the msi-gd65 or gd-80 but these boards dont have sata 3 or usb3, if you want to have all these the gigabyte ud4/5/6 have these features. well if you go sli then id go for the xfx 650w modular psu for a couple of quid cheaper.
and as for the ram, i would go for the corsair xms3
if you want to save money go for the gtx 460 1gb that is on offer for £135
