I know this question has been asked a million times but which thermal paste is currently regarded as being the best one to get?

I've used AS5 for years, is it still as well regarded?

I remember one of OCZ's pastes being recommended when I was last building a rig... Freeze Extreme I believe it's called? I did read a TIM shoot-out/review that placed it ahead of the posse, but that was 18 months ago now.

Well I've always used AS5 but I'm running out of the last tube, which I bought probably 4 or 5 years ago I think, so I'd imagine that things will have moved on and there'll be a newer all singing and dancing one (if thats possible with thermal paste :p) available.

Fortunately I always get off the Anal Express before it reaches What Thermal Paste is Best station.

Seriously, it's got to be pure marketing baloney. I cannot believe that one thermal paste differs from the rest enough to make more than an extremely minuscule difference to your temps.

For me it's not just about temps, I'm not really interested in temps as I never (well, rarely) overclock anything. For me it's about how easy it is to apply, how easy it is to get back off, how long it lasts once applied and how long it'll stay usable in the tube.

You can stick your temps up your anal express :D ;)

I think I'll just go with another tube of AS5 then as there doesn't appear to be any particular one that stands out.

Thanks for posting your recommendations. :)

MX4 seems to be touted as the best at the moment, however my next purchase will be arctic ceramique as its the only one suited for running DICE POT benching as it can handle the -70 temps its submitted to.

+1 for mx-4.

I scuffed up a heatsink installation, had to keep pressing down, removing it, pressing down because the godamn screws wouldnt tighten. It still kept it nice and cool one it eventually screwed in ! :p

Well I think after the last few posts I'm going to have to give MX4 a go, see what the crack is, same price as the AS5 but .5g more, bargain, cheers ;)
