I predict the Daily Mail will have this as their lead story for next, oh, 3 years. They will be ****ing themselves so hard over this, it would put most pr0n films to shame.

Such a vast amount of nonsense on the TV about this tonight. Amazing the people that actually seem to give a damn - lots of old posh sounding dudes cracking on about how this is a momentous occasion that will change the face of the Royals/nation/World or whatever.

I hope we don't have to endure too much more of this nonsense. It makes no difference to anyone, anywhere that he's marrying a woman. If he was marrying a dude it might be (slighlty) more interesting.

Let's move on.

Well, personally, I think it's fantastic news and it's been a long time coming. It's a shame that there are so many nay-sayers out there. These are our future King and Queen and I for one am proud of our Royal family and all the pomp and circumstance that goes with it.

The tax implications will likely be minimal and the amount of tourism that this will likely generate will be a very positive thing for this country.

I wish them many happy years of marriage and I will if possible go to London to witness the occasion.

ETA - I did think the BBC's live feed of coverage was a tad OTT though!

I hadn't seen the news but then at Uni someone said to me "Hey Ed, 'grats on your brother William getting engaged". People still reckon I look like Prince Harry :(.

I like William & Kate. They both seem like nice people, and she's a looker which can't hurt!

Not sure I'm keen on the idea of Diana's ring though...

Is there any chance we can skip-out charles and have William & Kate next inline instead?

It's possible that we might not have a king George and it might skip on to king William but not likely I would say. Not unless the queen lives for another 20 years.

Someone got engaged and we're subjected to it all day?
It's not really massive news. Unsure how people can twist it to say it is...

She'll be queen one day... This changes everything! Apparantly...

Plus, there's every chance she'll die or divorce before this happens?

Divorse.

I was saying that to the mrs earlier.

You would think the royals live in a fairytale or something ;)

all fur coat and nae knickers comes to mind.

I hate to break it to everyone but a king or queen has absolute power by definition.

As they do not, then technically there can be no title king/queen etc..

So technically its fraud!

Actually - it is divorce with a 'c'...

So nice to know that people are wishing them divorced already. Give them a chance for goodness sake!!

16,000+ posts and you think I give a toss about spelling mistakes and typos?

Why does this place attract this?

Anyway, I wasn't wishing them to get devorced. I just think it the likely outcome. Maybe not, makes no difference to me other than what I read on headlines. It'll be Diana all over again, princes and palaces must get boring at some point.

Knickers or not.

I see what you did there

I only picked up on it because you appeared to be correcting the previous poster. If you weren't then I apologise - I don't go around spell checking people, but on this occasion it appeared your correction was incorrect so I wished to clarify.

With regards to my usage of the word "wishing" it is merely a turn of phrase. Those people who are posting that "they'll be divorced in a few years anyway" or words to that effect appear to be stating a non-negotiable fact. My point is simply that it would be nice to just give the young couple a chance before their marriage is thrown out as a bad job.

It's inevitable that some people will dislike the royals and others will love them. I fall into the latter camp as I'm sure you can see from my previous posts. At the end of the day, they're just starting out and that's something to be celebrated no matter who they are. The media attention may be OTT, but they are still our future King and Queen no matter what any of us may want, so lets support them instead of de-riding the whole system.

Picking him up with his correct spelling with my bad spelling was I?

He offered two likely outcomes, so I started my post with the outcome I thought likely.

I'd have thought that obvious maybe not.

Shame common sense doesn't prevail as much as msword, I know what would do debate better ;)

:p

Nope, just opinion. Opinions aren't non negotiable on the whole, but does it matter - it is just a persons opinion.

No, I want to deride the system.

Why is it still here? It is expensive nostalgia.

Nothing against them, and I wish them personal happyness.

Nothing much else.

(post not spell checked on purpose) :D hope theres loads :p
