Hey all!

I don't know if that's the technical term - but my car is juddering a bit :p

Let me explain...

At the weekend I was driving around and all of a sudden my car started "juddering" - by which I mean as I was driving it was vibrating slightly and it felt like I was going to stall...

I made a note to check my cars front - I.e engine oil etc. (I forgot :()

Anyway - I went out again tonight and it done it again as I was just coming into the road I was stopping in - as I parked, the engine oil light came on!

I told my dad and he said it wouldn't be the engine oil that made the "juddering" - he felt it would probably be a blockage between the engine and petrol tank (???)

I think I've heard of something like a Mr Muscle for cars where you put it in the petrol tank and it cleans the insides of your car - am I making this up or is it a real thing? :p

AND - is my dad right? Or shall I fill up my engine oil and be done with it?

THANKS!
Marky

oil light has come on cause you stalled it.

put oil in if it needs oil.

i'd personally check the iscv etc

telling us the car might help
Please treat me like a car newb (because I am :p)

I have no idea what iscv is :p

Also - I have a Peugeot 106 :p

idle speed control valve (iscv or icv)

it helps control how much air goes into the engine to keep it going at idle and your foot is off the accelerator.

if it sticks it can cause stalling at junctions etc.

depends how much its juddering really, a little bit or putting you through the windscreen etc

It's not too bad at the moment - I just worry about it completely stopping in the middle of the road or something :(

Where do I find the valve you talk about?

depends on the engine, i don't know.

google

but if its small and the airbox is ontop the engine, you should find it near the throttle body (where the accel cable goes).

if the airbox is to the side of the engine it could kinda be anywhere between the box and manifold.

google or wait for a pug person

:)

Give the throttle body a good clean.
Make sure the air filter is clean and all piping is good and not blocked etc.

Did your car recently die or battery removed that might have reset the fuel map values?

Could also be crap petrol so may stick in a touch of super to see if it persists.

Asides that, if you dont know where to go maybe its worth taking it to a garage for sparks etc to be checked..

Okay - I wasn't able to do anything tonightr as it was too dark when I got home - but whilst I was at work, I managed to get a bottle of Radex for £1 :D I thought that it couldn't help to try my "Mr Muscle for Cars" attempt for a pound :p

I'll try that tomorrow as well as filling up my engine oil...

Apparently - you must use Radex on a full tank of petrol? Is this true? I have about a quarter tank left - can I still use it? If so, how much should I use (Baring it mind, it says I should use half a bottle on a full tank...)?

If that doesn't work, I think the next step is to replace the fuel filter...

Thanks,

Marky

I had this issue with my astra before apparently a common fault, just be careful you dont spray too much like I think I did :D engine didnt seem to happy for abit for the first 15 seconds haha

give it a service,

oil filter, oil
air filter
plugs, if its petrol
fuel filter

if its still the same bite the bullet this time and take it to a Garage.

get yourself a workshop manual for next time.

Okay this morning it was worst than ever - so I didn't even bother putting the Radex I got in the car - I just took it to the garage I use...

£150 down and it's working again ¬_¬'

They fit a set of new spark plugs on and a new "Four Cylinder Coil Pack".

Honestly, if I have to spend anymore on my car, I might cry :( :p
