It came into market, Zotac produced such model, but... no price, no offers, no reviews.. complete silence, like retailers afraid to sell it from any reason (too much GTS 450 onsite ?) :)
It would be a bit embarassing for customers (aka GTX260 192c vs 216c) to keep on mind there are 2 different models with the same name, but I'd like to see tests, reviews.... but nothing here and there...

Thats three versions of the official 460 then....joy. Must be to fool people out of hard earned cash thinking its a fully fledged 1gb 460.

Nvidia is selling a large amount of cards to the 460 high-end segement of the martket, so it makes perfect sense for them to brand a cheaper to produce card at that part of the market.

Good job the guys at OCUK forums know their stuff and will avoid it unless they sell them at the right retail price.

Cheers

Going back to the old days maybe?
I remember having a 5700LE before my 5950Ultra, not sure what the LE stood for. Lame edition maybe... The only good thing about the gimped cards was that they always seemed to be capable of decent overclocks. Sure there were Radeon 9600LE's or similar monikered cards...
228 cores instead of 336? Will still have alright performance, depending on what they price it at...

They usually cripple them by using crap memory controllers with about half the bandwidth of the originals - usually on passive cards - maybe thats what the SE stands for (Silent Edition) although I can't imagine a passive 460 doing anything other than glowing red? :D

I suspect it's really targeted at OEMs. They would find it difficult to sell a card with 768MB, and need a lower power, lower cost card, which they can still convince customers is a "gamer's card".

OEM market is in Russia with "new" rebranded 68xx.. sorry... 57xx low-end Radeons ;-)
This Zotac I've mentioned is BOXed one, nVidia has definately bad experience with last OEM 3xx products (retailers denied selling them).

I'm just curious, what's gamer's productivity with new GTX460 - is it in half way between GTS450-GTX460/768, or is it very close to GTX460? And what about FullHD & maxed details - new model has got bigger memory bandwidth. I'm just curious, but it seems like market doesn't love new GTX. Last time when nVidia made such "cut&add" (8800GS = 9600GSO versus "new" 9600GSO/512), it was complete turkey.

Even as a joke it makes no sense to suggest 6800s are rebranded 5700s. 6800s are a lot faster and use completely different cores.

My mistake, it was not 57xx, but 55xx and 54xx (Cedar and Redwood - but I've mentioned "low end") series repacked and rebranded for OEM's Russian market, sold as 6xxx series. You can not discuss with facts, but - of course - you can say it has no sense.
