Hey fellas I'm thinking about getting a PC. (Mac user here) I'll be playing a couple flight sims and maybe a few strategy games. I don't expect to play Crysis at ultra and 98 FPS. I just want a solid pc for games, picture editing and a little light video work.

SystemaxSG-1010 MMO gaming pc with Athlon II x4 630 2.80GHZ with

1 GB ATI Radeon 5770

4 GB DDR3 Ram

650 W power supple
I'll install Linux for productivity. What do you guys think about
That's pretty much my budget. Thanks a lot for the input!!!

If it doesn't state what the motherboard or power supply is don't go near it with a stick. These are bad components to save money on, and if they aren't telling you what they are it's a good bet they're the cheapest they could find.

Weird place to come for advice on what to buy in America. The UK bit in OcUK refers to United Kingdom. Best we are allowed to suggest based on the (strict) board rules would be a list of components for you to assemble yourself.

Seriously though, don't buy the thing in the OP.

Work 52 hours a week plus classes... I just want it to work out of the box right now tbh.

I know what your saying, but it really only takes an 1hr or 2hr to piece together, actually takes longer to install windows and drivers/games/programs.

any way its midnight and I need some sleep.

laters....

A mac is more likely to do that than a prebuilt or a diy unit from the web, but you'll pay for the privilege.

If you've so little free time, linux isn't going to be productive. Unless you're already very familiar with it, linux is more of a black hole into which time vanishes forever than a productivity tool.

Thanks a lot for the insight, might still build one if I feel froggy.

I had a quick check on the price of the first system and it is supposedly around $800.

You can get a Dell Studio XPS7100 with a Phenom II X6 1045T,6GB of DDR3 and an HD5770 1GB for $880 direct from Dell.
