I've noticed that some of you drive some decent cars. So rather than ask (in random threads) what they were like to live with I thought I'd put this thread together.
Just a list of all the cars I've owned to date with details of the negatives and positives.
1. Renault Clio 1.2 Extreme (52 plate).
This was my first car. Great little A to B runner with a sun roof, auto lights and wipers.
+ Never experienced any issues with this. Then again I didnt have it for that long.
+ Running costs for this car were (as you could imagine) rather reasonable.
2. Vauxhall Corsa 1.8 SRI (05 plate)
This came with around 120bhp. a substatial gain over my the clio. Again, another decent runner. And pleasantly equipped!
+ Full leather interior, heated seats and wing mirrors and a few other goodies.
Running costs were slightly higher... This that was due to my driving style.
- Engine mount screw broke. so had the car taken to Vauxhall. They were rather surprised and asked whether the car had been in a accident. They even carried out a HPI check. In the end the mount was repaired
3. Mazda RX8 (55 plate)
This was the 190bhp version.
+ Most comfortable car I've driven to date. Great seating position
+ Oodles of room
- Pretty underpowered imo. Never really excited me.
- Went through oil and petrol as if there was no tomorrow.... Just didnt seem right for a car with so little torque to drink that much lol.
+ No issues with this car
4. Corsa VXR (58 plate)
+ Exciting car to drive (wanted one from the day VXL released details about it)
+ Turns a lot of heads and will either gain thumbs up or thumbs down lol.
+ Running costs are fairly reasonable.
- Its a Vauxhall. I’ve had it for two years now. minor things are starting to squeek. Being a VXL interior isn’t the best... lots of plastic.
+/- Seating position is great. Seats them self (Recaros) great for short blasts.... Not so good during a long journey.
- This time last year I got into a legal dispute with Thorney Motorsport (LONG STORY). In the end Vauxhall replaced my car's engine.
- Radiator had to be replaced
