Bizzare Creations to shut.

bad news but I don't feel too sorry for them after jumping boat (I miss the PGR series).. maybe they can crawl back to MS

i was shocked at how little was known about the newest james bond game, until wham, it was released. very shoddy and maybe they knew the writing was on the wall back then.

RIP pgr series though, i was actually tempted to re-buy a 360 for the games but now i can sit comfy with gran turismo

I found it strange that Activision launched Blood Stone four days before Black Op's, it's like they wanted it to fail. Surely a different release date would have served them better?

That's sad news :( I've been playing their games since way back on the PS1. Hopefully the guys there get back up and running in some form.

I'm sure someone will buy Bizarre. It's a decent studio.

Microsoft may take them back or EA may incorporare Bizarre, though that would put it in competition with the likes of Criterion Games. Sony may even try to buy Bizarre to put out arcade racing games in between GT games.

I remember reading that when they did GW2 they had loads of ideas for other game modes. Maybe once they've severed from Activision they could keep themselves going and bring out GW3 - doubt it will take ages to develop and it would be a bit of a money spinner for them.

MSR, PGR1 and PGR2 where awesome for me, but PGR3/4 just seemed to concentrate more on the gimmickry, and less on the racing as such..

And oddly, sales of each iteration have slowly declined.. Blur was just ill-conceived, when you get to that level of arcade driving, you want something else to go with it, like Midnight Club LA / NFS etc..

Looks like Microsoft want them back, don't blame them. That way they could continue the PGR series which would be great.
Things are looking up for staff at Bizarre Creations today, following yesterday's news that a trip to the job centre might be in the offing. Apparently a number of buyers are interested in picking up the Blur studio.
An inside source told Develop that, "there's multiple parties interested in buying us."
"We are still on consultation for 90 days," he added, "but things look much better than they did last night or this morning. Things here are changing at such a quick pace."
The source didn't name names but another Bizarre staffer earlier told Develop that Microsoft was among those sniffing around.
"Microsoft aren't stupid," he said, "they know we're talented and have spoken to Activision about us."
A Microsoft buy-out would make a degree of sense. After all, Bizarre Creations were the studio responsible for bringing the publisher's hugely successful racing franchise, Project Gotham Racing, into the world, prior to being purchased by Activision in 2007.
Microsoft are rumoured to be talking to a number of European developers about rebooting the Project Gotham series. Are we the only ones seeing a perfect fit here?
Yesterday, Activision announced it was winding down its involvement with Bizarre Creations. A statement from the publisher explained, "because of the broader economic factors impacting the market, we are exploring our options regarding the future of the studio, including a potential sale of the business."
Bizarre isn't the only Activision subsidiary getting thrown out with the bath water. Guitar Hero port factory Budcat Creations also received its marching orders yesterday.

Bizarre is what is wrong with gaming, saw the money at activsion while making 4 great racing games for MS maybe not making huge money but MS should say bye and get some other team in they might have now making a PGR game.

hopefully this means MSR2 is still a possibility. Whilst they made rubbish games at activision i still think with PGR/MSR they got arcade racing spot on in terms of handling.

I quite enjoyed Blur

Same here - as I said above I got it on rental and think it's great. I'm only playing the single player so far, but think the power ups work brilliantly.

Played my first rival race yesterday and was miles behind. Picked up a speed boost, then lightening, then bolt to bring opponent to a standstill as I overtook on the finish line. It got me out of my seat which is always a good sign.

PGR 3 I believe it was, holds the most memories for me, playing it with the OCUK crowd during the 360's launch. Many laughs were had.

I was under the impression that Bizzare were still with MS or something so I'm very shocked too. I was wondering why we hadn't seen a PGR title in a while :/

I only started playing PGR again this week on my 360, I still find it a brilliantly balanced game which grabs me more than Forza for some reason (not dissing Forza, it's brilliant as well, but for some reason I can't be bothered to play it).

A return to basics with Microsoft sounds like the dream scenario here...

Hopefully MS will pick them up, I'd love to see another PGR game.

Didn't they split from MS as they were bored of doing PGR games and wanted to try other types of games?

I know they might have been allured by Activision funds, which was a bad move. Wouldn't be surprised if Sony are sniffing around. Sony tend to mop up good studios that are being sidelined....

Anyhow, I do hope they recover, as even though Blur and 007 weren't massive sellers they are a very talented studio... Blur wasn't actually a bad game, neither was 007 to be honest.

They also did MSR on the Dreamcast which was also rather good, shame to see them go but I'm sure the more talented people won't have problems getting another job...

i still have a copy of msr for the dreamcast, hopefully they'll be bought out, a couple companys were interested i heard last.

I thought 007 Blood stone single player was more fun than any modern warfare poop thats been thrown out.

Really enjoyed it.
