Looking forward to my new contract upgrade but then saw a couple of posts regarding the speaker.

Is it really that quiet, or is it something that isn't really that bad?

Cheers :)

Its rubbish.

its not bad enough to miss calls but if your the sort of chav to sit at the back of the bus with your "tunes" the other chavs might mock you because there blinging nokia's speakers are better,

You coild of posted in the massive Desire HD thread by the way.

its to keep that 500 pound phone to protect it from HIV (keys) Chlamydia (coins) and other diseases. It is a bit quiet but manages to wake me up in the mornings (out of condom). But I am very impressed how strong the vibration mode is when in work(in condom).

2bitsteve, you are commenting on the acoustic damping properties of the pouch there my friend. Can you stay on topic?

Pouches are stupid anyway. Let's all buy a beautiful 500 pound phone and stick it in a condom.

Beautiful phone? It is a nice phone but I wouldn't call it beautiful.. I take it you haven't turned the phone over?

2bitsteve? Stay on topic? No.

This is the topic; can we hear the phone. Many people place their phone in some kind of case or pouch.

But I run with you and lets forget the pouch or case.

Place it in your jeans/trouser pocket and walk into a slightly noisy shopping centre or a busy station. You will not hear it unless you are lucky.. luck aside you will more like be counting on feeling that small motor vibrating inside the phone. But good luck placing it inside a thick coat pocket where you are less likely to feel the vibrations.

The ring volume is lower than any phone I have purchased.

Due to a single speaker being used and bad placement of the speaker and the speaker opening (there SHOULD be more than one).

The speaker is, compared to other smartphones, there or there abouts.

Its quieter than some, and slightly louder than others. It is not a problem at all really. If you've come from a Nokia music phone or something you might be disappointed but the speaker does its job well enough.
