I installed the card a week ago and i dont get a green light when i boot up my computer all i get from the card is a red light? is this a major problem? any help appreciated.
 
what kind of psu are you running with it i thought red or orange meant it wasnt gettin enough power maybe im wrong?.

Indeed, that's what I thought - hence why I said check the connectors :p

A quick google backs this theory up. If you're absolutely sure you've done the connectors right, then your PSU might simply not be up to the job. What make and wattage is it?
 
I had the same problem with mine, turns out that 1. the PSU adapters were shot and had a bad fitting into the sockets on the actual card. the card is pretty power hungry too so make sure its getting enough amps. for example 4pin molex x2 -> 6 pin PCIe power, make sure to use 1 molex from each of the power rails to split the draw. It fixed mine. but i still feel that the issue is fixed temporarily.
 
Try reseating the plug into the PCI-E express socket :-) If you are using Molex connectors try and rejoin the molex connection as well.. they are pretty nasty connectors.
