The police are like any other gang they look after their own, they probably have half of the judges in their back pockets like they do the coroners.

Instead of just sacking him and hiring someone who isn't a thug in his place they'll protect him and make sure he keeps his job to further "serve and protect" people, they would gain a lot more respect from people if they didn't protect the bad apples amongst them.

And this generalisation is based on what exactly? One news story?

When I heard who the judge was I knew the copper would get away with it.
The judge said "Insufficient evidence" hello did you not see the photos or the video?

And he is still on full pay! the copper force are nothing but a joke..

It's the court that made the decision, not the Police. I must admit, I'm surprised he won the appeal though.

OK, perhaps in pedant mode I should have written "Justice System"

Regardless, the Police and judges in this country do themselves no favours when incidents like this occur.

How exactly can a massive black eye on one side of the face only be caused by falling onto a flat concrete floor? What officially recognised technique was being used by this Sargeant when yanking this lady around the floor?

I dont subscribe to the 'All Police are thugs' brigage, but like any other profession, there are bad apples.
The UK justice system is becoming as corrupt as the USA one in the respect that there is what seems to be carte blanche to get away with blatantly criminal offences, which would get non-Police officers a criminal record.

What was the purpose of installing the CCTV in this Police station? To protect the Police, or the public? I know what it hasnt succeeded in.

Freemasons ;).

And the Police wonder why they're disliked?

After one of our lectures today we (I'd say that lecture is about 300) came across two coppers in the corridor. "**** it's the filth", and then everyone goes silent and scurries along quickly and quietly.

 at the average student!

EDIT: As this is a thread slagging off the police, where's Joshy?

Sorry, but can you please point me to the part where the judge said there was insufficient evidence?

Also note that he's now subject to an investigation by the Professional Standards Department and still faces dismissal.

Am I the only one wondering why he wasn't fired for gross misconduct after the incident, (which is what any private company would have done) or why he still wasn't fired after he was convicted but instead had taxpayers money thrown at him while he was at home playing wow?

This story came up in my lunch hour at work.
I am on the side of the police in this but it appears to have incensed the boss somewhat as He was ranting about giving me my P45 over it  :D

Typical pathetic judge. One gives him jail the other who wants to look after him gets him scott free. Hopefully this buffoon is sacked and not allowed any job at all with any power as he is clearly not fit.
