Hey Guys,

I don't mind admitting that I'm not very clued up when it comes to GPU's, and so if anyone could give me some advice I'd be really grateful :)

Question:

Would an Asus reference 5850 be much of an upgrade from a BFG GTX 260 OCX...and would it be worth buying one now for around £130?

Or would it probably be best to wait for the 6950, which if I'm right in thinking will be the "next" 5850?

(I'm guessing the 6950's will be well over the £200 mark when they're released?)

Many thanks,

diverse

A 5850 for £130 is a steal. If you like overclocking it will go past a 5870 in speed. I don't think you will see a 6950 for under £250.

The 5850 will be a great upgrade from a gtx260 as well. If i was you i would get it now especially at that price.

Just to add a little its an asus reference board it will most likely do around a 1000 or more on the core which will make it a really fast card.

The 5850 is a decent card, and if you can get one for 130 then grab it!

But if you can't have a look at the GTX 460 for ~£140 which overclocks really well and outperforms the like of the 6870, 6850 and even catches up with the 470.

5850 at 1000 core in my book will beat any gtx460 and also be cheaper at £130.
