right im after a cpu to run on my board i bought about 6 months ago, i was going to use the i5 750 but that seems to of dissapeared and these to have taken its place, as there is ony £10 difference in price which one would be better. i'd like to have a go at over clocking and the board is Asus P7P55D-E
thanks

i5 760 for me everytime. Extra tenner for 2 extra cores and 4mb extra L3 chache is a no brainer imo. The 650 is only a dual core with HT, has built in GFX but your mobo can't utilise that being on P55 chipset. the 650 has higher stock speed but the 760 can easily oc pass that.

Don't get the 650, it is a dual core with hyperthreading and an onboard graphics core. The i5 760 is a true quad core. This benchmark shows the performance difference in a range of applications.

This is the chip you are looking for :)

Yes, you can run that memory stick on its own and it will work. However, unless you already own this - I wouldn't suggest buying it as you will only be running the memory in single channel mode, which has half the memory bandwidth of a dual stick kit like this which will run in dual channel mode.

With that budget for graphics, this is the GPU I would go for and this if you want it in the lower end of the budget.

right next stupid question, can i use this on its own till i get another one at a later date?

also whats the graphics card of choice at the mo, looking to spend about £100/£150ish on it

A dual channel memory like this would be ideal:-

As for the graphics card for a max of £150 it's either the ATI HD 6850 or Nvidia GTX 460 1GB, either of these would be a good purchase.

Sums it up really, get the 760.

with both lots of those rams, would i be able to just add another set to take it upto 8? was looking at the 8650, but there does seem to be a lot oflove for the 460. will have to think about that

You should be able to yes. The 460's are great value at the price, but then the 470 is as well for not much more
