You have a kid?!

I've used a family members 3 door a few times, with 2 kids (baby and a 5 year old). It's an issue if you dont give yourself space to have the door wide open, or an inconvenience if it rains, but it's really not that much of a problem once you are used to getting on with it.

open door, pull seat forward, put kid in, seat back, close door, round other side put shopping in.

Why would you open door and sort seat with the baby in your arms?

Well the seat on the Fiesta pops up and slides back on it's own accord. I don't have a kid, but given the choice between a 3 or 5 door car, I'd take the 5 door every time.

Most people would, but if you want a 3 door there is no reason not to have one just because you have a kid.
So have you ever actually had to put a baby in the back of your car?
For most people doing something once or rarely it can be annoying, but once you get used to it you find its ok.

Much like I'm sure you'd get used to walking everywhere with no shoes on but given the choice, I'm sure you wouldn't do it.

How is that even close to being similar? Quite obvious you have no experience of what you are talking about regarding this so no point carrying on.

It was a metaphor, going on your point of it's not ideal but you'll get used to it.

I have experience of trying to lift things onto my rear seat? Many a time I have held something heavy while watching the rear seat slide backwards, stopping me from loading up, so I had to end up using my body to stop the seat sliding back, while trying to load up. How is that not a pain in the arse?

I agree with Janesy 100%. Why bother making it more difficult for yourself for absolutely no gain? It's not like the OP's after an e46 M3 and we're saying no, go for a 330i because it has 4 doors.

You could get a mid/late 90's mini mpv on that budget, in very good condition. Something like the series 1 Renault Scenic will never go wrong on you. Renault seemed to build them good back then. The 2 litre one we had did about 42mpg on a run and about 30-35mpg round town.

3 door cars generally look better. Thats the gain for hardly any pain.
I'm not saying that people should choose a 3 door, just that they can as its really not a problem. Hell I have 2 cars with more than 3 doors and have kids.

3 doors are a pain when you have kids, it's not the lifting of the seat or the leaning in it's the grief you get from the missus " I told you we should have got a 5 door " nag nag nag.

Get a 5 door much easier on the ears
