Is that a euphemism? But hey if you can't get a hotel that close to central then yeah grab one a bit further out and tube it. Tubes have been fine for me on new years as they run them especially late. Can be good fun too talking rubbish to strangers after you've all had a few. And if you really can't be bothered with the tube you can always grab a cab. Will cost more than usual on NY though.
 
I thought last year the tubes were open all the way through New years night? I remember getting it back at like 5am... unless I just had a few too many half shandys :)
