Had laser eye surgery, Q for those who have had it

My vision is deteriorating due to using a computer too often, but with glasses it is fine. My prescription is getting much worse though recently, so i'll hold back on laser eye surgery.

I had those comfort contact lenses from Specsavers for a few months, they make it really difficult to focus on the screen after hours :(

I forgot to say during my op it was over within 6-7 minutes anyhow

And im not just saying this but ive had 4 fillings done to my teeth this week and that was far worser/painful with the drilling and took over an hour to do, so anyone epsecially Vti and The Blue its not bad at all!

They in fact sit u inside a dentist chair, the doc walks in and says hello and explains whats hes about to do. They put a eye guard around your eye to stop you from blinking, then use a surgical tool to take the top layer skin of your pupil and you will see them folding it back.... all you do then is look into the red light thats in front of you, and a slight stinging nothing major or too painful and its done in 1-2 minutes.... then they do the next eye.

Worst feeling I had was when he put cold water over my eye that was uncomfortable and weird, refreshing and clean feeling though ! moved the flap back and installed the bandage contacts and said see u in a few days time....

The real discomfort and pain happens after an hour or 2... and its nothing to major, but id make sure your house/room has no lights and keep doors/windows closed.... I sat in darkness for 1st 2-3 days nothing but darkness and listening to the radio was my soloution lol

Good luck !

Well its cutting it close I had my op done on a friday, and strangely enough was back at work on Wednesday but it made all the difference, your going for lasik right ?

If its Lasik you should be fine cos its literally next day and your bandages come off and your ok a bit groggy and tired/swollen and red/tried eyes, for lasekers its 3-4 days recovery time, this is what they say on paper for both treatments however in pratice it would be ideal too take a good 1-2 weeks off work imo, that way you can just recover.

When it comes to my eyes didnt wanna chance a single thing. I didnt even look at a TV/Monitor screen till 4 days after and that was bad enough !

All done!

Felt like i'd taken part in a wold record onion slicing comp 2 hours after :(

4 hours later the sting had gone but so light sensitive i had sunglasses on in bed with the blinds down lol!

Still a little blurred at close up today but i feel I'll reach driving standard (numberplate read at 20 meters).

I'm the 1st appointment in today as I'd got bleeding in my left eye.

Considering it - anyone who's done it able to tell me how uncomfortable/painful the actual procedure is?... I really want the effects, but the procedure seems kind of scary. How long did it take you?

Would be awesome not to have glasses - they drive me insane and are also a ridiculous hindrance to random awesome activities like paintballing, anything requiriing a helmet, even theme parks (Well not a complete hindrance, but a very large bother).

Just read the my comments about the procedure above or previous page...

Its not uncomfortable at all, a trip to the dentist chair for a filling or tooth ache is far worser imo. And id say the worst pain comes in the form of when your eyes/nose turn into a tap for 4-5hrs you do get some slight pain in both eyes there sort of short burst of pain and they go away after a few minutes well it did for me. Trust me once you gone past that 1st few hours your ok again.

How long? Actuallaser time was 21 seconds left eye, 15 seconds right.

Sounds pretty awesome to be honest. Any recommended providers? Seems to be a lot, and since it's a procedure concerning my eyes I'm pretty wary in regards to choosing a good provider.

If you're happy with your provider, what were the costs?

From £3700 to £2400 to £2200 to £1885 for the pair. It's like a car boot sale, don't accept the 1st price as it will drop when you walk away.

Plus it's always cheaper on the 'cancellation' slot for Friday they all have.

Code:
     SPH CYL AXIS
RE -.25 -2.00 15
LE -.50 -2.75 175

It's the high Astimatism that made me go.

The aftermath do not look if squeamish!

Looks worse than it is. The spot top of the iris was caused by the hinge on the flap pulling a vesil. The surgeon was called out this morning to check it was OK. ;)

Had a drive tonight 28 hours after the op. Felt a little sea sick due to the new pescription, i got that sometimes with new glasses (but never on rocking boats!). Halos around lights were minimal and nothing i can't put up with. :)

Nice keep going, you can get those leaking blood spots about but they generally clear up after a few days, but always best too get them checked out like.

keep up with the night goggles and eye drops also... you will get there in the end :)

The eye pads at night arn't as bad as i'd thought. Don't hardly notice them :)

Thing clearing up. I'm hoping things will get sharper but we'll see..

Tried on my old glasses today and can't see a thing through them lol :)

Been back for another checkup, keep an eye on the bleed and they upped my drops again! But seeing at 20:20 even with the inflamation! Not bad for less than 3 days post op.

Made myself a drops tick chart :)

Yellow - Both
Also got tears to add every hour!

yeah those tear drops will help out a lot...

I stopped using them for about a week or 2 and then realised my eyes still get a bit more dry and tired so started it up again... the more pc/tv I do the more its needed thats for sure...

Back at work today. :(

Feeling a little seasick again in large open areas. Asked about this on monday and it's a normal effect of changing percription.

I feel sorry for you guys that had issues with your ops - must be a nightmare :( Hope it's all sorted soon and you get to enjoy perfect vision soon! :D It's so worth it! :D
