Just bought a 460 768mb and the fan speed at idle is quite high?

just picked up a zotac 460 768mb and after installing it and the drivers, the thing is running at 60-65% fan speed at idle. With temps of around 30c. Is that normal? seems a bit weird?

No that is not right, are you using afterburner?

If so have you clicked on auto on the bottom where the fan options are?,if autofan is running then the fan speed bar will be unhighlighted and you wont be able to adjust it

Because its set on auto now,the program will automatically increase/decrease fan speed when temps are changed.

For example when your on desktop the fan will stay around 40%,when you play a game and your temps hit 70-80c the fan will increase to say 60-70%,when you exit the game the fan will decrease to the autofan settings 40%.

Oh wait I think I've misunderstood. The fan was already set to auto when i opened afterburner. I turned auto off and set it to 40% i thought thats what you meant. Its now back on auto and sitting back at around 60-65% with no load on it and a temp of 28c

Leave it on 40% and click on auto, this way the card will be silent and your temps will still be ok at idle.

When on auto the fan will increase when needed when temps changed
