Need Help with Honda Civic or Alternatives

So why are they not being sold through retail then given there are numerous approved used cars on Honda dealers forecourt with a bit of wear here and there?

because the wear and tear of the cars on the forecourts is acceptable.

These as I explained above are just a little too much too make a Grade 2 rating.

Grade 0 is perfect/straight from the factory

Grade 1 is also new, but with some repair work (bodyshop work for example) before sale due too any number of things, such as a stone chip when on the back of a car transporter.

Grade 2 is used car.

Grade 3 is just screwed used, and needs work to make into a Grade 2.

So they are a bunch of cars not good enough to be flogged as second hand cars?

How confidence inspiring.

And now your just trying to spin it, so it sounds like they are crap, without any knowledge.

The lot of you, shut the hell up and take the TOTALLY UNRELATED (To the OPs thread direction) argument elsewhere.

Seriously sick of this crap - go battle it out on IRC, not here.

I really have a soft spot for civics, generally the older ones. EF/EG/EK. Excellent cars for what they are, reliable too. Not fond of the recent one's.

OP if you do have £14k to spend, look at your other options. You could get a nice German car with that amount.

If you must get a Civic, then i'd spend somewhere in the £9-10K region on a nice Type-R and pocket the rest.

Other options include: Ford Focus, VW Golf, Seat Leon, Audi A3, Renault Megane.

Op: what civic in particular did you own?

It was the 1.4 16v civic that I bought in Germany in the good old tax free days! It was my first car but I just loved it, it was pretty nippy and had loads of room for all my kit.

Like I said, I do like the idea of another civic but I'm going to look around this weekend and see if any other cars take my fancy. I think if I bought a Type R people would think I was going through a mid-life crisis :)

Sorry what? If some guy posts advising the OP to go to some random Honda reject auction and I beleive this to be a bad idea, then I'll dscuss that. I don't even know who stulid is so I've no idea how you expect me to discuss Hondas on IRC with him.

You call out everything, even the most minuscule of comments that normally would be overlooked/not cared for and start huge ass debates over nothing.

Then it turns out you don't actually know for sure and believe/are of the opinion of/think.

Sure, tell people otherwise when it's a known fact what they might be spewing is crap but otherwise it's often best to just leave a comment alone and nothing more would be said on the matter anyway.

Can get a lovely DC5 for that money, there's someone on the owners club selling this one for 11k so for your budget you can get the pick of the crop

He's a 44 year old married bloke who wants something a 'bit sportier'.

This does not mean he wants to spend £10k+ on an 8 year old hardcore Honda.

I suspect by 'Sporty' he means a bit power, a cool bodykit, some nice wheels and some sporty seats.

Something like a Civic 1.8 Type-S on an 09ish plate would therefore be right up his street, in my opinion.

Thanks mate, right on the button! My racing days are behind me now :)

Just been looking at a Seat Leon and Volvo C30 2.0i R-Design Diesel 3 Door. I do like the shape of both of them, never thought I'd like a Volvo. I really like the Type S GT but been to all the dealers round this area and nothing in stock. Guy at the last place said everyone wants the Type S GT and they are finding it hard to get them in.

get the C30, sounds perfect.

DC5 is no car for a 44 year old.

I'd disagree :p I was at a car show back in the summer where a retired couple were chatting to me because they were considering replacing their DC2 with one.

The TGM specialist guys run a race team driving them, and they are pushing 40 too ;)

Although I admit in this particular instance, it isn't suitable :)
