National Geographic annual photography entries

The Big Picture by The Boston is always a tab that opens with my other news websites,of course some of you know that roughly twice a week they present a news story using photos.

The latest part of this blog covers some of the annual National Geographic competition.

As usual they're very pretty shots, and in my opinion too over processed. Have a gander anyways:

26, 29, 34, 36 done it for me, all amazing shots in their own right though.

The general quality of those images seems to be lower than usual to me?

However, I quite like the idea of number 2, and I also like 35. Many of them look a little 'typical', with unoriginal ideas or subject matter. I think 15 is quite powerful knowing the number of people that are killed due to flouting railway safety in that part of the world.

The general quality of those images seems to be lower than usual to me?

Most of those images are around 300kb, so not megahighquality. Probably bandwidth costs. No doubt the printed versions will be high dpi lovelyness.

That Buddhist village in the mountains is amazing

I went to that part of the Himalayas last year and the place is staggeringly beautiful. Probably my favourite place in the whole world.
