9800+ too noisey for me

i have a palit 9800+ 512 but the noise is too much
could i modify this in any way
or sell and get a card almost as good cheap but noiseless

only have 1 game bunout paradise my 7300 just about copes but blotchy

on a acute tight budget (no job)
 
i would like a smaller card as this covers the 6 sata slots would a 450 be not far behind the 9800 or better , i know nothing about this btw

all i know is pc looks awfull with 73

Roughly speaking, the GTS450 is around as fast as GTS250, but with dx11 and better overclock capability. GTS250 is just rebranded 9800GTX+, so the difference between the speed of these 3 cards are not really that big.

If I were you, I'd try to find a MSI Cyclone GTX460 768MB for around £120...that card itself around as fast as 9800GT/GTX+ in SLI, with great overclock capabilitiy, runs a lot cooler and the Cyclone cooler is VERY quiet, also the GTX460 is quite short as well.

Here's a comparison between HD4850 (roughly as fast as 9800GTX+) and GTX460 768MB:

Or get a Vortexx Neo like kylew suggested to reduce the noise of your 9800GTX+, but that still wouldn't solve the blocking SATA ports problem.
