**The Dragon Age Origins Thread **

Qdos: got the latest drivers for your sound card?

As for my game - I'm just about to fight the Archdemon. I'm not taking Leliana with me though as she turned down my offer of a threesome.

Having major problems installing and playing this. It's a digital version from the ea store. If I load it up to start, all the dlc is there but unauthorised, so I followed the support guide and updated the game to 1.04, this just kills the game completely as it says to re-install as the install is corrupt.

^^ similarly, any mods that reduce the load times?

I would actually avoid walking into buildings because the loading just killed the immersion.

I had problems with the DLC loading which turned out to be the "Dragon Age Origins - Content Updater" service not being installed correctly.

Just have a look at your system services (hit win+r and type services.exe then return) and make sure that the service is not disabled (it should ideally be set to manual).

If it's not there then it's possible to register the service with the system, just have a quick Google around as I've forgotten how I did it.

Does anyone know if the DVD Ultimate Edition bought in the shops needs the DVD to run?
Its just its cheaper than Steam by a few quid and I'd like to try it on my HP Mini 311 after I've heard some people saying it runs well at low textures but I don't have a DVD Drive with me all the time!

You can register the key on ea store and download without the disc.

I have never found this as a problem. I walk into a building and its such a fast load sometimes I dont even have time to read the "tip" on the loading screen.

I completed this on my Rogue yesterday, so all that is left is my warrior playthrough. I found it easier with my 3 mage and 1 tank setup rather then my rogue, healer, warrior and shale-tank due to better crowd control. Having 3 mages with Force Field nad Crushing Prision just dominated the battlefield. Gave them all Cone of Cole and Stonefist too and its almost too easy.

I booted up DA for the first time in a while today and when I clicked on resume in the menu to load up my last save there was a message saying that a couple of add ons that I have need to be activated on the account? These add ons are the ones that came with the game (blood armour and the stone prisoner) and they were working fine

Any ideas?

I get this from time to time, it's failed to authenticate the downloaded DLC against your account. Either your Bioware account has got logged out (likely if you haven't played in a while) or you don't have an internet connection. Try checking both of those?

I'm going to play this again, can someone recommend me some awesome mods?

Have gotten so far: JBTextures, Improved Atmosphere, Dragon Age Redesigned and Skip the fade.

Respec mod is quite good,....makes the game a bit easier though.
lets you spend your companions points the way you want them to be spent.,...also yours

Try that, happened to me when I moved my Steam folder.

Hi,

I own the collector's edition of the game and I'm thinking about getting the DLC and Awakening soon. The thing is all the DLC and Awakening are MUCH cheap if bought as part of the Ultimate edition rather then separatly.

My question is can I buy the Ultimate edition and then add Awakening and the DLC to my existing Collector's Edtion install/account?

Thanks

I think you probably can, the DLC is basically pre-installed from the disc but to activate it you have to redeem a code via the EA/Bioware Site which I'm led to believe is the same as if you got the DLC initially in that it has to be downloaded from EA/Bioware.
