OK folks

My little sister has asked me to build my 2 nephews a PC for Xmas. So I've decided to gut my gaming rig & pop it in a new case (E8400 @ 3.6 2gig corsair DDR2 & a ati HD4850)

Going to buy:

It will have W7 HP & office 2010 installed to help the eldest one with his homework as he's now at grammar school & I want to give him what help I can at home by giving him a half decent PC to do his homework on & play the odd game too. It will give me an excuse to upgrade next year too. :D

I'm also going to give him my old monitor (Samsung 223BW) so I can buy a bigger monitor (going up to 24" & LED) but cant make up my mind on which one.

So I'd like advice on what monitor to buy (for me) & whether I can improve on the spec above in the quote (budget is lets say 200 notes) my only doubt is the PSU on whether its a good choice for the CPU & the graphics card & it will take an upgrade to let's say a Q6600 & better graphics card in the future!

Thanks

Looks good.

The PSU will be fine with that setup- the OCZ only has one 6pin PEG connector, but the 4850 only needs one, so it should be fine.

It will certainly cope with a Q6600 upgrade in terms of power - however you may want to upgrade the cooler if you are using the E8400 stock cooler. If memory serves these are just 65W chips and the cooler is pretty tiny, so a 95W Q6600 would get a bit warm.

As for coping with a graphics card upgrade - so long as you stick to one with a reasonable power usage (less than 200W) you should be fine. You can add in an extra PEG connection using a molex adapter.

As for a new monitor for you, I suggest you have a look at the Samsung P2350H, I wouldn't worry about LED backlighting.
