Have you replaced stock cooler on your GTX 470/480?

How did you find the procedure and any gotchas to watch out for?

I'd just like to hear other's experiences, I've watched some vids on youtube. I've done this procedure bvefore but never with superglued screws

It's not difficult but just take your time and don't get stressed. For me, I found popping the little tabs on the outer cover the hardest part, the rest was just time consuming. The locktite on the screws comes away easily.

I didnt pop the top cover off.
Check out my watercooling log (link in sig). It shows pics with it off & explains 1 little problem I had lol :D

I plan to give it a go the weekend with a VF3000F on a POV GTX 470. Have borrowed some precision screwdrivers from one of the electricians at work, and one of them fits like a glove with absolutely no play in the head of the screw.

Should work in theory. Ahem.

Run the card on furmark for 10 mins, take it out quickly, watch out it will be hot, the glue will be soft and screws came out quite easily for me. Use a quality precision screwdriver.

It easy to do but take your time. I spent about 2.5 hours fitting a Gelid to my GTX480 but it was well worth it & now 100% silent regardless of loading.

Well worth buying one as unlike the Zalman VF3000 the Gelid is 100% silent at all times on 1200RPM thanks to its HSF & dual low noise fans.

Any pictures mate? Looking to fit 2 of these coolers on my GTX470's.

Cheers
Adam

my heatsinks for the Accelero arrived from HK today,Stanley fatmax #0 phillips in hand, im going in boys, wish me luck :D

Just undid all the PCB screws and the whole lot just popped right off, EK FC Block went on no prob's. If you are going to build, upgrade your PC's it pays to buy a good set of screw drivers, cheap one's can chew your screw heads as well. As they tip gets chewed from being made from soft metal, not hardened steel + some have their tips magnetized, which helps keep the screw from dropping off....;)
