Moving up to an i7 rig and intend on overclocking it target of 4ghz+ depending on chip and looking for some advice on HSF. I've got a budget of around £40 for a decent cooler to keep the temps in check and but not too loud (it has to be gf friendly + it's in the lounge).

My short list is:
Thermalright IFX-14 + 140mm Prolimatech Blue Vortex (favourite so far)

or

Titan Fenrir Evo CPU Cooler

or

Scythe Yasya CPU Cooler

Thoughts? And what would be an acceptable temp range of the i7 1366?

Thanks

i assume it's i7 950? if so, hitting 4ghz is no problem. jus google some reviews on noise and pick whichever you prefer, noisewise.

Ordered a i7 930, Asus p6x58d-e and 6gb of Corsair 1600mhz ram. I've googled many a review but always value the input from knowledgeable forum members as well :)

Anyone any recommendations or advisors?

Thermaltake frio and Akasa Viper are two more to consider :)

Frio comes with 2 fans as standard and Viper has one of the fancy S-Flow fans :)

Thanks everyone, i've ordered the IFX-14 + 140mm fan after much swapping in and out of my basket with the Fenrir Evo. The Evo performance is excellent but feel the IFX give me more flexability with the possibility of two fans, 120 or 140mm.

I'll report back how i got on when everything arrives :)

All arrived, installed and thoroughly tested over the past few days. Very happy with the IFX-14 + 120mm + 140mm fans. Tight squeeze against the side panel in an Antec 900 case due to the 140mm but would be fine with 120mm fans.

Temp are good with quiet fans, not quite silence but not audible over the rest of the case. Idles 30's, gaming 50 - 60 and Prime / Linx 70 - 80.

Up the budget a bit to the Thermalright silver arrow why settle for second best for £10-£15 less.
oops too late.
