No, there's no cost for getting it picked up and returned. Call AppleCare and they'll take you through a few steps before determining that the optical drive is faulty. Then you get the option to either take it in to a store or have it collected. I called back a few days after my original call to arrange collection and I organised collection for the following Monday. A man turned up with a huge box and the correct polystyrene inserts so it was well packaged.
