How much will a decent one with two cameras set me back

Are these useable as evidence in court if required?

How discreet are they?

Anything else I should know or that's interesting

I'm looking to get one for the taxi hat will offer in car and out car recording along with some basic telemetry

Thoughts please folks

And once they have robbed you seeing the sign i suppose they might want to take the hard drive with them.

Thinking more along the lines of for backside covering than anything else

Oneof my tax driver colleagues recently lost his taxi badge due to an umproven accusation of assaulting a passenger

Long story short the guy said he didn't do it the police didn't charge him but the council still removed his badge on grounds of hearsay and accusation some sort of in car according device could have saved this man his livelihood

Questions. Again

Cost for a 2 camera setup

Recording capacity? And ease of backup ie could I easily pull the hard drive or whatever storage medium and burn it to DVD?

Dog cam sport

Jesus that's pricey looking at north of a grand for a 2 camera kit
On the phone ATM but does their vile include datalogging and gps tracking?

I use a roadhawk too

no problems and I have a giggle watching all my road rage videos over and over again

I keep trying to find one thats ok to post here, but my language, driving, speed, reaction, outcome are always far too unsuitable for such a cuddly family forum

re:roadhawk , any chance of a raw footage file I can download? I am tempted to get one, but need to know the actual quality, vids I have seen on YouTube don't apparently do it justice.

I went for the RH-1 as it pretty much hides behind the rear view mirror, the RH2 makes it feel like you are driving a bus with a CCTV camera obviously pointing in your face.

The only thing is your not meant to film/photograph people where they would have a reasonable expectation of privacy. (So pointing a camera in a bedroom window is frowned upon)

Do people have a reasonable expectation of privacy in a taxi?

I wouldn't anyway, wouldn't be surprised if lots of taxis have things like that already.

I think you'll be fine just recording stuff, but i'd be careful about posting stuff on youtube, not because it'd be illegal but because the laws are a bit vauge around this stuff and lawyers who know their way around this field tend to be expensive

And once they have robbed you seeing the sign i suppose they might want to take the hard drive with them.

I did note he said the camera system was wanted for a taxi.

Call me cynical but I would imagine there could be issues with a CCTV system placed in a taxi which members of the use and only the driver knows about ?

As a Taxi you would only need to display this vehicle uses CCTV, that should be more than sufficient to cater for the people who insist on privacy on public transport.

Several nicer taxi's use in car recording around here, so its not unusual, at the end of the day its your word against theirs and if councils are going to side with them, you have every right to cover your own ***

still looking into this guys, going to speak to a local company who sell this sort of stuff and see what they can offer.

ideally wanting a forward facing camera with gps/speed tracking ability and at least 1 in car camera

anyone any idea of the size of files that would be generated with recording decent quality video per camera? for example would i be talking gigs per hour or would it be less

I would look at the roadhawk suggested further up, they do a twin camera system that records both front and rear facing, so you get the road ahead and the passenger seats.

They have a few demo files on their site so you can get an idea of the file sizes, but as they use standard SD cards no doubt you can fit quite a bit on a 32Gb one.
