***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

Gotta admit head tracking is pretty cool, very useful for looking in the side mirror! been implemented pretty well. Now to set reverse on the g25:)

Will there be a launch party somewhere for this tonight? Similar to the Black Ops one that was streamed? Call me sad but I kinda enjoy watching them! :)

How does uploading videos and photos work? In other ganmes I played (like Forza, I think), the Photos upload to a Forza website and you link to them from there. Other PS3 games have a video upload function that basically asks you your Youtube credentials and it uploads the video (possibly through XMB).

Is that how it is in GT5? Going to buy my copy from HMV tomorrow, knowing my luck I will wake up late, get there and it will be sold out and I will come home with my tail between my legs and a copy of F1 2010 in my hands :)

p.s: Head tracking, I assume this only works in internal cockpit views, so therefore only in Premium cars?

p.p.s. Is there something visual on screen (like an icon?) that tells you whether a car is premium or standard?

Well only new cars are premium, standards are all used cars not sure about anything else apart from looking at the models .
Gt5 website updated with features more info etc

After the first days play, I have to admit I'm not feeling it. I would have expected this game to majorly impress straight away, even forgetting all the hype, but it hasn't done yet.

Already a little board of the trivial early races and being forced to find a poxy little Jap. or Euro box to compete in. Finding the Jeff Gordon Nascar school frustrating too, feels like it should be part of the licence tests, rather than a "special" event.

I also think it's too clinical, like everything is trying to be too perfect to the point where it looks a little fake. The tracks seem bland and almost too clean somehow, and there's small annoyances like the awful flickering shadows to the engine sound not changing when going through a tunnel, something I thought they would nail. It's little things like that that throw the whole illusion of racing off for me.

Meh, I'm sure I'll keep playing :o

Yes rp head tracking only works in cockpit view :-) I really suck at this game - and I definitely need a dedicated stand - is there anywhere to get a wheelstand pro for less than a hundred quid?

The AI is ****. Just turn into you and drive through you like you're a g-wizz yet you nudge them an they're like hitting a building.

Twice now i've made the schoolboy error of tuning a car that isn't the best car to begin with. Tuned a 1.0 Yaris and a 1.6 MX5. The MX5 is my baby though. 236bhp, 854kg meaning 280bhp/tonne :)

Am I being totally thick here, but can't you have the controls analogue - L2 and R2 for accelerate and brake?

Haven't got my wheel setup so using a gamepad to have a quick race..

Pressing X to accelerate is - well stupid..

Nevermind - found it... you have to set it yourself. Every single racing game I've played recently has R2 and L2 as accelerate and brake... Backward or what? Thats like going back in time to the Ps2 days..

Need to change the control settings in the options. Seems it's a GT legacy plus the awful DS3 triggers to blame for that. Devs don't like using them in the "normal" way because they are so poor, not just in driving games but stuff like FPS too.

You can remap every button to any control you want in the options menu.

Just had my first wet race...oh my god it's amazing!

Yeah just realised this lol but I have some triggers on my DS3 pad..

I need to setup my wheel, quick blast and the handling is VERY good. Graphics are very nice too. Right, time to go and waste a few hours.. See you all next week lol

Can someone confirm for me please as I just read this on another forum, but, do you have to pay to get more cars? (i.e. DLC style).

Thanks.
