Worth upgrading?

I can't decide whether or not to upgrade and if so what to.

I currently have a Palit GTS 250 1GB. Never really got on with this card. Have always found it a bit unstable. Unable to get latest drivers to work properly with it, having to revert back. Overheating issues and generally just putting a dampener on gaming for me. I don't thnik the card is faulty as I've had hours of uninterrupted gaming on MW2 but with MOH and especially BO it just seems to fail.

So, what is a good upgrade from this? I have no preference on ATI or Nvidia. I just want a solid card that won't fail on me and will more than cope. I would rather keep it to around £150 but I could be persuaded to push the boat out. Obviously the 6850 and 460 areobvious choices but I have noticed the 5850s sliding into the 150 quid bracket and although older would this be a better option?

Not sure about MOH, but for COD: BO, the issue is with the game being poorly code and became a ridiculous CPU hog, and the chances are getting a better card won't make the game any smoother on it. COD:BO would deliver pretty poor frame rate for dual-core in general.

As for the 5850, the MSI Twin FrozR II 5850 at £160 is definitely worthy considering, as unlike most non-reference 5850 (most of non-Asus/MSI brand 5850), it allows voltage tweaking.

Is it?

Really?

The 6870 is the smart choice and I'm flabbergasted in your post
It's the fastest card around the £150 range. It's not like you can grab a 6870 for £175 anymore...on average they all price at £190+, which is at least £30 more. If he can find a 6870 for cheap, then by all mean get that...if it is within his budget that is.

Agree wholeheartedly, rrp of the 6870 is £175, currently £195, they can be found for nearer £175. Very disappointed with whats going on with the 6870\580.:(
