What would be the temp range on the cpu? Core temps are reporting it as low 53 and High 88. Its just that I read in the reviews for this product someone was getting 25\35 idle and someone says it shot up to 65 saying maybe he does not have enough cooling.

I have just run prime and it crashed after about 5 minutes with a temps at a max 99

Sounds very strange. Are you sure you have mounted the CPU cooler correctly? Removed the plastic from the bottom etc?

If it hit 99 then I suggest looking at your heatsink mounting and try doing a full remount with new thermal paste.

As for someone getting 65C and thinking he may not have enough cooling - please ignore this. A 4.2GHz i7 with an air cooler is expected to be in the 80s when fully loaded - but if it is the high 90s then something is off.

I will be stripping it tomorrow to make sure its all ok. It's back down to 50 on idle.

50 at idle...even @ 4.20 sounds highish does it not?

Would totally depend on the case airflow and ambient temp.

Early test show while running prime blend, I am getting a peak temp of 77 which is much better than the 99 i was getting yesterday.

I have also added an extra 120mm fan so that I now have 4x120mm fans at the front, back, top and one on the cooler. I can add one to blow\exhaust over the hard drives if needed.
