macs and the price of parts

I was looking at the imac 27inch which is £1399 and i was checking the specs and it may just be me, not knowing my parts very well, but it seems like the individual parts are actually quite cheap, for example ocuk sell the same graphics card for £70. I would have thought a system that costs nearly £1.5k would have a more expensive card.

so my question is, why are macs so expensive?

Remember though that's it's a mobile version of the card not a pci-e version

gfx cards from the iMacs are mobile versions, so, often bigger, flatter and more pricey

Mac's are more expensive because of the build quality, the ready-made ness of them, the fact they all usually work perfectly from the factory, the ease of use, the lack of viruses, the sexyness ( mac pro case is teh sex )

It's a premium product.

In EVERYTHING else in life (cars, groceries, bog roll) you have a choice between higher cost premium items and lower cost consumer grade stuff. You aren't forced to buy either.

I don't buy quad ply quilted scented sphincter massaging bog roll. But if I did, I wouldn't get ridiculed for it. Yet when it comes to computers whether you like using macs or PC's causes so many arguments. It's boring!

My question is; why does this get asked and answered on a daily basis? They're actually a bargain.

It's a 27" LED backlit S-IPS display with mobile components made to a very high quality, nobody else makes anything comparable.

The nearest thing would be the Sony all-in-one where you'll pay £1500 for an inferior 24" screen and a Core 2 Duo CPU (granted, it does have 8gb RAM and a Blu-Ray drive too).

if people like me and millions of others are still willing to pay a premium then why should they stop. would be bad buisness practice not to sell for as much as they can

Not really expensive when you take into account the computer as a whole, its build quality, looks, design, OS, excellent customer service etc and they hold their value better.

Look up the price of a 27" IPS monitor at the same resolution and same quality.
