Hi

I'm looking for a new power supply as basically I think my current one (CoolerMaster Real Power modular 520W) is on the blink. I've been having problems with my computer just randomly rebooting, the screen just going black all of a sudden and my PC starts up again. I ran memtest, no errors found, so I have been told it's most likely a PSU problem. The thing is, the frequency of the resets is completely random, I can go for a day or three without seeing it reset once but then it can just happen all of a sudden and then it could happen again 5 minutes later. Also, I wouldn't have expected my current PSU to burn out so fast as I have only had it since May 2009 and CoolerMaster appear to be a quality brand. Anyway, I need to get it sorted out and so I'm looking for a new PSU that can power this system without a problem:

Dual-Core E2180 running @ 3GHz
Gigabyte GA-73PVM-S2H micro-ATX motherboard
2GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2/PC-6400 memory
GeForce GTX 260, 216 core, 896MB
2x HDD's

Basically, I want to spend as little as possible but be guaranteed a good quality PSU that won't blow up on me or cause the same problem as I'm having now. I would say I have about £50'ish to spend. What do you recommend?

Thanks.

I would avoid the CX 430W as it actually supplies less amps on the 12V rail than the earlier CX 400W.

Also, you should first check your PSU with a digital multimeter before assuming it is the cause of your problems. It is also worth looking at your motherboard.

However, how well have you checked the stability of your overclock? Perhaps use OCCT or IBT to check if everything is still OK and I assume the CPU is being kept cool enough as are the motherboard VRMs.

This reboot problem is getting quite bad. I have had about five or six resets today, a few within five minutes of each other. One of the resets even happened on the very first hardware detect screen just as you turn the computer one!

This surely has to be some sort of power supply issue? My computer just keeps getting 'cut off' without any sign it's going to happen, I could just be playing a game on the computer then bam, it turns off and starts up again.

If it is a PSU issue (which I'm assuming it is), is this PSU any good and will it power my system (with CPU OC) without problems?

There is no need for a massive one, any decent 400W+ would probably be fine
dont buy a 1200W because you will probably drain your whole street of power
