Ok, full service, + replacement of leaky hose pipe from Engine-->Radiator, plus replacement of ARB.

Thoughts?

The price for the pipe is £108.00
Plus fitting £63.00
Total £171.00

The Price for the Bar £200.00
Plus fitting £168.00
Total £368.00

Full service (parts) £184.06
Labour £105.00
Total £289.06

156 GTA. Service cost not too bothered, was £250 last year. Pipe cost raised my eye (as with fitting cost), same for front ARB. Curious as to what an equivalent would cost in the UK...

Argh, wallet is crying at the moment, just before Chrimbo lol.

suppose it depends on the pipe and its location, swapping out a radiator hose on the cars I've owned wouldn't be remotely complicated - but I'm guessing thats an hours labour so including flushing and re-priming that's about right.

whats included in the "service"?

Brake fluid/front pads/oil change/pollen filter/1 wiper have been changed.

Usual tyre check, lights, bodywork, exhaust, cambelt/timing belt inspection, emissions, ECU interrogation, spark plug check, yadda yadda as part of said service.

Can accept that yep, have asked in Alfa forums in UK/Spain too. Raised an eyebrow at the hose fitting / ARB fitting costs. Dont think there's much I can do about the Hose replacement since I dont/cant really use the car without it :) ARB, might just put that off for a wee while and source an ARB from the UK/Spain, and get it fitted in Spain. More hassle, less cost. Hmm.

Yah. I'm not one to skimp on mechanical servicing (Bodywork I give up on living out here - See the old Spain thread by RXLA12/123456), but getting a good idea that I can replace ARB + Fitting for a good £150 less if I make the effort sourcing ARB from UK, and then getting it fitted across the border.

Tightwad, I know :)

thats really actually not that bad

with regards to the other bits, i dont know the layout of the enginebay or front suspension. you could make a couple calls to check if youre being stitched up on the ARB price as £200 sounds a bit steep.

Spain thread? Do you have a link? I'd like to know more about living in Gibraltar / anywhere warmer but still English culture.

If it's somewhere that you can waltz into without a visa, commonwealth or otherwise, so much the better...

Spain thread was more RXLA12/123456 commenting on the state of Spanish Cars' bodywork in general, which is applicable here. i.e a bad state :)

Yeah no need for visa or any of that assuming you've got a British passport.

Permanent residence involves getting a local ID card/Job in order to get ID card. English culture...mmm...it's got a fair amount of it, think of it more of an Spanish/English mix, with official services/education in English. Culture/family life based on Spanish way, yet we all watch Sky TV and drink like Fish.

Email in trust basically if you want to find out more :)

Needs a slight front subframe drop, which is where i'd wager the labour costs are. Argh.

Ta, Are the body work issues rust based, or spanish drivers?

Excuse my ignorance, I know little about the spanish outside of bull-fighting and lunch-time naps. I can live with Corona instead of Stella, but I'd miss English food...

I think my mid-life crisis is starting early, I'm sick of the way things are, and am toying with the idea of buying a small business / franchise. Is business profitable out there?

Will send you an e-mail when/if I ever finish work... :)
