French review slates GT5 a 14/20

Not sure I would be giving it 9 or 10 out of 10 either to be fair. It's good, but there are some pretty rough parts to it which are unfathomable after such a long development time.
There is unquestionably an unrivalled amount of content, but other than that after playing it all yesterday I'm struggling to see if it's really any better than Forza 3 when it comes to racing around a track.

The sum of its parts are about on par with Forza 3 for me, which is great as i've got more people on my friends list on the PS3 and a Driving Force Pro which means i'll get even more enjoyment out of it overall.
What's more shocking about the op is that they gave the abomination that is F1 2010 the same score as Forza 3.

Not to mention the score dragon rising got to.
It's on par with Burn Zombie Burn! and Ragdoll Kung Fu, what's not to like? 
He does seem like a hard guy to please, not a single 20 among his reviews, unless he's one of these idiots that confuses a perfect score with a 'perfect' game and therefore refuses to use the full scale available to him.

It depends.
Can the two even be compared as a whole. Both have different feature and appeal to two types of people!
Off course they can be compared, they are aiming for the same thing 
Agree with the comments that the actual driving is not much different from Forza, which is no bad thing IMO, means both have very good driving physics which for a racing game is a decent start
GT is lacking in some areas, such as AI, sound and damage but does offer a much more varied racing game than Forza. Not sure I am keen on the standard/premium car split but so far it's not really bothered me too much. Forza was also a bit half finished in area's, but then again it never had the development time of GT5. GT5 online seems to have not improved from Prologue which is a bit of a problem, only played a few online games but still it seems an after thought and not very smooth, other cars seem to just twitch around the track constantly.
As far as the slating review goes, well they gave F1 17/20 despite all it's game breaking flaws so I would not pay much attention to that review

well it has been a bit of a let down, silly bugs, graphics that arent quite up there on the most part, and quite a soddy menu system really arent giving an AAA release like this the overall quality and sheen it needed.
id say the reviews of 7/8 out of 10 are fair reviews...its got nothing to do with being a forza lover or anything...
i was fully expecting this game to blow forza out of the water with all the hype its been getting, but its not even come close. as an owner of a ps3 and 360 and equally loving both i have no qualms in making an informed choice and decision between the two.
forza took what 2-3 years to make, GT5 over double that - the time/features in the game just dont add up.....the whole game stinks of an overpassionate dev studio not being tied down to produce EFFECTIVELY and EFFICIENTLY and essentially becoming lazy.
im not surprised there already working on GT6 , they must have looked at this game and thought '**** weve spent 7-8 years on this - what the hell have we been doing'

I think forza 3 is a better game.. But you cant say that as you will be branded a Playstation hatter or Fanboy...
If you dont have a PS3 then spending £250+ to play a game that offers nothing over what is currently available is madness in my opinion.

What I meant to say what certain aspects of the games can easily be compared. To wrap both games in a package and "say choose one..." isnt as easy. imo!
I know that if both games were on the ps3 and xbox360 I'd get both!

Meh, yeah I guess so. Just a shame really. Forza and GT5 are both great games yet the usual posters are off out from under their bridges to have a go.
I'm also finding it amusing that I called cheets out on it yet we get numerous others joining in as well for what seems to be no good reason. Are you trying to paint a target on yourselves?

I have been positive and negative about the game but you only pick up on the negative things...jog on.

I've had a few moans about the game too... But, its a decent game and the review is maybe a little harsh but its not a bad review. In fact after about four hours play last night I now know the game is VERY good at what its meant to do.. And thats provide track racing. It does just what it says on the tin..
Anyhow, it'll sell millions regardless of reviews. Anyone thinking of buying GT5 and own a PS3 but already played Forza 3, GT5 is worth it for the extras that Forza 3 lacks...
both are good games, GT5 is bascially Forza for PS3.
