Bottled water why!

Purified water comes out of the third tap in our kitchen courtesy of our filter system. Although to be fair, our regular tap water--even in the bathroom or toilet (not that it probably matters where in the house it's coming from)--is perfectly fine.

I use a water filter for drinking water, and use bottled water in the espresso machine as it's dry residue is fantastically low and means I have to do a lot less cleaning on it and more importantly, it tastes better.

Sadly the water in Hertfordshire is stupidly hard. We've had 3 or 4 broken showers over the 10 years that the other half has owned the flat.

The water here in Cambridge is really poor compared to up north, but I think you'd have to be incredibly fussy to find it unpleasant enough to buy bottled instead.

Having drunk tap water in America there is nothing wrong with it.

in "america" lol

Quite a narrow minded statement wouldnt you think ? given we've already established there is significant variations in our water quality in this tiny little island. I imagine the implications for how many houses could have crap tasting tap water in a country the size of North America are massive.

Small wonder they are the biggest consumers of it, considering how big the country is and how affluent most americans are compared with say - africa.

We bought loads of bottled water when we were in Vegas, Nevada desert heat can dehydrate you in < 30 minutes if you've got fast walking pace.

Purified chilled water comes out of our fridge next to the ice dispenser, tastes nicer then almost all bottled water i have tryed. The tap water isnt that bad either, infact it's amazing compared to some of the cak i tasted when in london...

I remember reading in a well known tabloid newspaper that tap water contains something that can make men grow breasts.

Oh - and too much alcohol has the same effect.

So I'm not which was the culprit in my case.

Maybe bottled water is the way forward.

I only drink tap water, have done for years - started off years ago when I was doing weights/running and started buying bottled water. Now it actually makes me feel sick drinking tap water, tastes horrible.

I used to work for an Injection/Blow-Moulding Company that used to make all the Bottles for a famous UK Bottled Water Co. and I can tell you I would never drink any of their Bottled Water, I have seen the warehouse storage of the empty Bottles (By far the biggest contamination risk from Birds, Rodents, Insects and even Cats)

They would get stored outside occasionally (300Yds Down wind of the Towns Sewerage Farm) I've seen them shipped out on Pallets with rotting meat all over them into manky stinking Trailers with holes in their roofs, cuts all along their curtains and I've seen them being filled and handled, the best bit though, is they are not washed at all, they just get flushed with the same Water they're filled with, anyone who thinks that their drinking only the purest Mountain filtered Water is very naive (See what I did there? :p).

until something/someone ****s/dies in it :p

The sheep poo is just added flavour! Actually I do drink from burns when walking on the hills sometimes but it's only clean if some animal hasn't died in it further up the hill.

Yes, quite.

:p

Generally you're ok though. Certainly with big fresh water rivers.

I used to build a stone 'harbour' next to the bank, stick the beer in to chill

:D

Southwest I have tasted various degrees of water.
Taunton can happily drink
Wellington not as good but drinkable
Bridgwater hated.
Plymouth hated.

While living in bridgwater had to keep buying 5l bottles of store own brand. Or if it worked out cheaper 6/8pack of other brands. But even buying bottled water can taste different and goes iffy at different paces. Buxton was the worst tasting. Evian, aqua pura one of the better ones.
