Hi I've never really been too into my mobile phones but lately I've had a real interest in the latest phones i.e. Iphones, HTC's etc. These new touch screen phone are looking great some really nice resolutions along with very useful internet access. I'm looking for a new mobile phone currently I have a very buggy Sony Ericsson W910i on pay-as-you-go. I'm interested in getting a HTC at the moment I'm stuck between the new HD7 and the HD2. Currently I'm leaning more towards the HD7 I've used one quite briefly in a phone shop and I have seen a few video reviews on youtube. Anyway more to the point of the thread. I've never had a contract phone before and I'm not entirely sure what it is too look for. I'm only a student I do have enough income for a monthly contract but I don't want to be leaving the £30 mark.

Can someone please advice me what to look for as I will mostly be using the phone for internet browsing and texting. I'm not exactly sure what sort of usage bandwidth to go for 500MB, 300MB etc. And if someone could maybe post a few decent websites to look for deals. I've never shopped online for a phone before and I am a little weary of hidden charges and the "legitimency" of the website itself.

Thanks for reading :)

The HD2 is terrible compared to the HD7 unless you hack it and run Android or something else. You dont want to be doing that, forget the HD2.

Get the HD7, iPhone 4 or Desire HD, depending on whether you want Windows Phone 7, iPhone iOS or Android.

Good sites -

Just make sure you deal you choose has internet included, and you are good to go.

What sort of internet bandwidth am I best getting. will 500MB be enough for a month?
Also looked at those sites and none of them mention internet access :*(

All of them will mention it as 500/750/Unltd MB mobile data or something like that.

500MB will be fine unless you intend to stream video/internet radio while you are out and about, LOTS.

One last question, if I use wifi does it count towards the 500MB usage?

nope it doesnt.

remember that you are likely tied to this phone for 18/24 months so i advise going in a few phone shops and having a play with them as much as possible before commiting

Yeah I understand that, this would also mean I am best getting insurance. Going to check out some phone shops tomorrow see if I can get some deals. =]
